Mother Teresa
She was born on August 26, 1910, and was also born in now Skopje. As a child she followed the message of Christ. She sang in the local Sacred Heart choir and was often asked to sing solos, and also attended a convent-run primary school and then a state-run secondary school. She was deeply involved in a local church as a child. Her mother was also the one who helped her with becoming very close to Christ. She started to become inserted in the missionary work when she turned 18. After that she soon left home. She became a nun 1928 and was inspired by Saint Therese of Lisieux. In May 1931, Mother Teresa made her First Profession of Vows. She formed The Missionaries of Charity, which has now over 4,000 nuns.
Mother Teresa was a nun serving in Calcutta, India. Her work consisted of helping the poor and sick. She provided health supplies for the wounded. She opened “The Gift of Love” charity to help people who were infected with HIV/AIDs. She was important because she dedicated her entire life, from when she was little until the day she died, to help the world and its people. Unfortunately, she suffered injuries from her lungs, heart, and kidneys. She traveled, not only in Asia, but throughout the entire world. She inspired the construction of over six hundred and ten medical foundations in one hundred and twenty-three different countries all over the world by the time of her death in September, 1997. She also received the Nobel Peace Prize for “bringing help to the suffering of the world”. She also achieved the task of publishing many books, like “The Missionary Practice : Mother Teresa in Theory and Practice”
Her real name was Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu. She had lung and kidney problems which caused her death. She joined the sisters at the age of 18. She never saw her sister or mother after she left for Ireland even though she lived to be 87. She opened her own hospital where she could take care of her patients. To celebrate the birth of Mother Teresa nuns in India pray at a special mass all day. Billboards, towers, bridges, and halls in buildings will all glow blue and white all across the country in honor of Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa was born August 26, 1910 in Skopje and died on September 5, 1997. She was canonized on October 19, 2003 and her feast day is the day she died. Her father died when she was 8 years old. Mother Teresa did have a family. They were quite religious and political. She received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. She was canonized for giving a life of service to the poor and sick. She was really helpful to the poor and sick. I’ve learned that she was a very good help to poor and sick.
