Principals Message:
We hope you are all enjoying the last few days of summer, and we continue to work to have a great start to this exciting 2023-2024 school year at Centennial High School.
A special shout-out to our staff, volunteers, families, and everyone who supported our new students during Thursday's CHS New Student Onboarding Day. We had over 50 new students and families start their CHS experience in a great way.
As we start a new school year, there are so many things to look forward to. We are eager to embrace our mission of helping each student to demonstrate high academic standards in an equitable, supportive school culture and to graduate college and career-ready. To support this goal, we have several important dates and things to remember as we start the year:
The First Day for All CHS Students is Wednesday, September 6th, at 9:10 AM. Remember, the first day of school is on a Late Start Wednesday, so the cafeteria and main entrance door open at 8:35 AM to eat breakfast. You must stay in the cafeteria area until 8:50 AM, when the hallways open. The warning bell is at 9:05 AM, and 1st-period classes start at 9:10 AM. Remember, school ends at 3:10 p.m.
Remember to recheck your StrudentVUE and ParentVUE on Tuesday to verify your first-trimester schedule and bus information.
CHS Student Picture Day. CHS Student pictures will be on September 7th, 8th, or 11th, depending on your Language Arts Teacher. If you are not taking a Language Arts class at CHS, your picture will be a time depending on the first letter of your last name. Check the CHS Weekly Update for the schedule. You should receive an email with Picture ordering information. Even if you are not going to order pictures, you need to get your picture taken because they are used for your school ID, which you must have, yearbook, safety identification, and other functions. So, it is important to get your picture taken, so please plan accordingly. Retakes will be on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.
Make sure that you have also reviewed the CHS Student Handbook 2023-2024 for any questions.
We look forward to seeing everyone on the first day for the start of a great school year!
Remember, "Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle" at CHS!

Massage from CHS Counselors:
Schedule change requests have been processed and closed for Trimester One. Coming back to school in the fall can be stressful, and your CHS counselors are here for you. We also know that not everybody has had a good and restful summer. Reach out to us if you need some support or just a quiet space to be for a moment.
Schedule change requests have been processed and closed for Trimester One. Students will be able to address Trimester 2 and 3 scheduling concerns later in the year. The only Trimester One concerns that can be addressed in the next few weeks will be:
- Junior or senior needs a dismissal for emergency/work needs
- Student needs a level change in an academic subject (when supported by the teacher and parent/guardian)
- Schedule errors
- Student wants to add a CVA (online) class
- Senior needs a graduation requirement
Students will be able to discuss the above concerns with their counselor by emailing or calling them, or coming to the counseling office before or after school or during their lunch.
See you soon!
Reminders:
ParentSquare fro CSD Communication Starting this year- We heard feedback focused on the effort to navigate multiple communication channels for your student(s). We are pleased to inform you we have addressed this communication concern thanks to our new Centennial School District Communications vendor partnership with ParentSquare and their website platform SmartSites - a streamlined parent communication platform.
ParentSquare will replace BlackBoard Communications, School Messenger, Class Dojo and many other channels through which you may previously have received information. The platform is also set to replace Remind which is scheduled to sunset in November 2023.
ParentSquare offers greater parent/guardian involvement, more robust engagement features, an app for mobile users, two-way language translation, and more! Best of all, the platform syncs with our current Student Information System (SIS) and is preloaded with student contact information.
