Eastlake High School 7.21.19
Thank you for an awesome week of learning! I wish you a successful and happy school year. Every school year brings excitement about new possibilities. I have been impressed by the quality of our staff. I have no doubt that we are going to make a difference in the lives of our students. Remember the lessons from this past week from our various speakers and experiences (pictures below). If I had to discern the wisdom we gained, it would be distilled to the following:
Take Care of Yourself (please find balance in your life)
Take Care of Each Other (create caring relationships with the staff, students and parents)
Take Care of This Place (show that Titan Way spirit)
Believe in Yourself
Believe in Each Other
Believe in This Place
You should have received First Day procedure notes from Mrs. Candelario. The letter is below as well. Let's wear our jerseys on the first day even if it is over our clothes and for just the beginning of school. If you did not get a jersey, please let Mrs. Campos know. If you missed the PD this past week, you will need to attend the mandatory make-up this Friday for blood borne pathogen and Sexual Harassment training (time and place TBD). Also, please select your FAC (and Department Chairs if you have not done so yet) representative at this week's PLC meeting. Coffee will be in the staff lounge on Monday morning.
Over the next six weeks, I intend to have a one on one meeting with everyone to understand his/her passions, school concerns and needs. Speak your truth.
We are Titans and that means you are part of a great legacy. On Monday, teachers will find a varsity letter in their classroom. I hope I got everyone. If I missed you, please let me know. You have all earned the Varsity E for being tremendous educators. Welcome to the Varsity level. You have also been given a star signifying you are a captain. So, lead your class or area of work! Display your E with great pride or put it on a vest or jacket. You earned it. I hope you will take time to watch this presentation below from Rita Pierson. I wanted to play it at our PD, but we had a lot going on! I believe it will inspire you to continue being champions for our kids. Make it a great year.
