Be In the Loop...
THANK YOUs: So many Thank Yous to send... Each student at Thorntown received a school shirt prior to break. We share the cost of these shirts between PTO and our school funds raised through picture and yearbook sales. Thanks to PTO for continuing to support this gift to students. PTO is instrumental in raising funds for our school and planning activities for students and teachers. We're excited about some fun activities coming up this spring that are supported or sponsored by our PTO: Visiting Author - February 22, Spring Family Night - March 16, Schoolwide Convocation - April, Field Day - May. Thanks for all who participate in PTO!
I'd also like to send a big thanks to our parents and family members for all their support during our 1st semester. Your patience with the construction project and your partnership to make school a great experience makes all the difference for our students. Thanks for being champions for your kids!
Kids Heart Challenge: Students will participate in PE this quarter. Watch for information about Kids Heart Challenge (formerly known at Jump Rope for Heart) to come home soon! We will kick-off our fundraising efforts on January 23 and students will be challenged to secured donations through 2/9. This is a great opportunity for us to teach students about heart-healthy activities and how to spread some love through generosity. Donations benefit the American Heart Association.
eLearning: Please note the school calendar and plan for our first scheduled eLearning Day for the year. Students will bring home their laptops and participate in eLearning on 1/25. This provides an opportunity for our staff to participate in schoolwide professional development. Teachers will have office hours from 7:30-10:30 to check in and assist students as needed. Assignments for eLearning will be posted in Canvas by 5pm on 1/24 and due by Monday, 1/30. Students must participate in order to be marked present for that school day. We are scheduled for a final eLearning day on March 1.
