The College Funding Coach
Dear Mountain View High School,
I am so excited to announce that Mountain View High School is hosting the College Funding Coach on Tuesday, October 5th 6:00-7:15pm for a web workshop. This event is for any family wanting to learn how to pay for college (Preschool - High School). The College Funding Coach was founded in 2002 to help families better understand the complexities of paying for college and make higher education more affordable. Since that time, The College Funding Coach team has been on a mission to help families save on the high cost of higher education. The College Funding Coach’s founder, Brock Jolly, realized that most families want to help pay for their children’s education; but they often lack the liquidity and/or the cash flow to be able to do so. The College Funding Coach has established an approach that helps parents understand the college funding process, reduce their out-of-pocket expenses, and balance the challenge of saving for college and retirement simultaneously.
This is a free educational web event. Please register by clicking HERE or on the flyer attached to this email. Thanks,
Lori Hewitt

DISTRICT ADVISORY & ACCOUNTABILITY COMMITTEE
You're invited to be part of the DISTRICT ADVISORY & ACCOUNTABILITY COMMITTEE (DAAC) meeting.
Meeting: September 28, 2021 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
What is DAAC? Both state and federal accountability entities place great emphasis on including families within the accountability process. While state statute requires the formation of accountability committees, these groups can be activated to meet many of the ESSA expectations as well (e.g., stakeholder engagement in the planning and implementation process under school improvement). Regardless of the structure, parents are expected to engage in meaningful consultation in accountability and improvement planning. Furthermore, schools and districts are expected to report school data and document plans in a transparent manner.
DAACs must consist of the following, at a minimum:
1) Three parents of students enrolled in the district
2) One teacher employed by the district
3) One school administrator employed by the district
4) One person involved in business in the community within district boundaries.
DAACs must select one of their parent representatives to serve as chair or co-chair. Local school boards will establish the length of the term for DAAC chair/co-chairs. To be consistent with SAC responsibilities, DAACs shall meet at least quarterly. For more information, please visit: https://www.thompsonschools.org/page/976
