Read, Run Recess

Our final PTO fundraiser for the year is just around the corner. It is called Read, Run, and Recess and students will be spending their day reading for fun, logging miles, and playing outside. Students are being asked to collect money from sponsors for the day. Every class that raises at least $100 will earn an extra recess. Classes that raise $300 will earn a video dance party in the gym. If a grade level earns $1,000 every student gets to silly string their teacher and if the class earns $1,500 Mrs. Thackery will get sprayed as well. The top earning student will get to be Principal for the Day. All the money raised goes to purchase technology for classrooms, so far this year they have helped purchase 6 new SmartBoards, and to sponsor fun events like Donuts with mom and dad, Watch Dog Pizza night, Fun Night, Father/Daughter dance and Mother/Son night. Please help support them through your participation in this fundraising event.

The video below is of the 3rd grade teachers getting spray during Alley Oop because of all the money they raised earlier. Thank you for helping us make this a successful event.

Special Administrative Assistant

April 24th was Administrative Assistant Day. Christina Cox, our wonderful administrative assistant, was honored by KFDI and given an afternoon at Healing Waters Day Spa in Wichita. In order for it to be possible for her to be gone, morning DJ Tiny came out and worked in the office from about 11am until 4.

Student of the Month

Congratulations to Kendra Gresham our Ewalt Student of the Month. Kendra represented Ewalt at the Friends of Augusta luncheon at the high school. Kendra was nominated by her teachers. They said, "

I chose Kendra to be the Ewalt Student of the Month because she has impressed me all year with her positive attitude, work ethic, and perseverance. Kendra is always optimistic and that, mixed in with a little bit of good stubbornness, gives her an internal drive to be her very best. Not everything comes easily to Kendra, but that has never stopped her from anything. Kendra truly shows what a student with a growth mindset looks like. Along with this, Kendra is helpful and always willing to go the extra mile. Kendra is responsible, not only with getting work and corrections turned in, but also with getting her little sister home each day, which also provides very entertaining stories! Kendra, I’m proud of you. I truly believe you can do anything you put your mind to and you will find success in life because your drive will lead you there." Congratulations Kendra!

Big picture

Staff Appreciation Week

Ewalt is full of amazing staff members and we will be celebrating all of them the week of May 6th. PTO is providing breakfast on Monday and lunch on Wednesday as well as other tokens of appreciation throughout the week. This week is also a wonderful opportunity for your child to let the staff members he/she works with every day know how much they are appreciated. Thank you PTO and all of our Ewalt families for sharing your students with us.

Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast

Ewalt has the best volunteers and we would like to say Thank You! On Friday, May 17th we would like to invite all the parents who have helped in any way this year to a volunteer breakfast. We know many of you are already planning to help with field day, so we thought it would give us an opportunity to thank you for everything you do all year long. We will be providing breakfast for adult volunteers in the Ewalt Library from 7:30-8:30 Friday morning and snacks for you in the teacher workroom throughout the day. Thank you for your willingness to always donate your time and helping in anyway you can. Ewalt is a great place because of you. Please call the office by May 10th if you are planning to attend breakfast so we can make sure we have enough food.
