This week’s theme has very much been “Remembrance” . At the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, the whole School stood still to remember the men and women who have lost their lives or been affected by war.

The topic on health workers was greatly enhanced when Mrs Miller, Ava’s mother, came in to talk to us about her work as a nurse and midwife so a very big thank you goes to her and Ava who dressed up and helped her Mummy. Read the news article here. The children learned about the baby clinics, looked at X-rays and extended their language with tricky words such as stethoscopes and syringes. The nursery children have loved this week with its focus on festivals of light for which we have made divas out of clay, paint, glitter, sequins and tea lights to celebrate Diwali

Junior Girls - Christmas Cards
You should have received a sample of your child's artwork for Christmas cards. If you wish to place an order, please return the form with payment, by cheque, no later than end of school on Monday 16 November. Any orders after this date cannot be accepted. If you do not wish to order, you can keep the card as it does not need to be returned.
Start the day the healthy way
Did you know we offer breakfast at College Avenue? So, if you are in a hurry in the morning, Girls and Sixth Formers can take advantage of a continental style breakfast. There’s a choice of Croissants, Cereals, Porridge, Yogurts, Fruit, Pain au Raisin, Pain au Chocolat ranging from 30p to £1.20.
Christmas Lunch Orders
It seems a long way off, but we are already planning the School Christmas Lunch. For the first time, you will be asked to order online. Watch out for an email next week.
School to Parent Contact by Text
We will shortly be introducing a new text/email system to improve our communication with parents. Initial testing will take place next week. An email will be sent home before testing, as it is important we know if any of the test messages are not being received.

Travelling Book Fair
Don’t Forget Next Week…..Travelling Book Fair: 18 & 19 November 2015!
On Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 November 2015 the Senior and Junior Girls School will be hosting the Travelling Book Fair in the Senior Library. All students will bring home a letter on Friday 13 inviting you to visit the Fair, and explaining the safe and easy payment options available on the web site: www.travellingbooks.co.uk. This includes an excellent facility to purchase pre-paid book vouchers which may be redeemed at the Fair, or pay for books online, in advance. As well as a good range of books, we will also have stationery items to purchase. Come and start your Christmas shopping with us – every sale provides commission for free books for our Libraries!
HOLIDAY CLUB
We’re now taking bookings for Christmas at Claires Court Holiday Activities.
Join Holiday Club from Thursday 17 to Wednesday 23 December at College Avenue/Junior Girls site for five days of themed activities for the festive season - including cookery, games, crafts, fun and challenges... as well as a special visitor and Xtra for older children!

Those girls that have been selected for this event have been given a letter with a reply slip - can these be returned to Miss Cox by Wednesday 18 November. Please arrive at 6.25am (school tracksuit to be worn) at school. A packed lunch & drink are required, along with snacks, £1 for the lockers, swim kit, towel and flip flops for use around the pool. We aim to return for 2.30pm so the girls will also need their books for afternoon lessons.
