Band Of Warriors Win Gold at Regionals!
While many students and families went away for all of their Fall Break, the Scottsburg Band of Warriors continued their good season with two contests sandwiched around the Fall Break week. On October 13th, the Band of Warriors traveled to Evansville, IN to participate in the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Class C Regional Marching Band Contest. Scottsburg gave a solid performance, and earned a Gold Rating, their second of the year, and captured a “With Distinction” medallion for excellence in Music and Visual performance! The band continued their history-making season by capturing these “With Distinction” medallions, marking the first time in the 5-year history of the “With Distinction” awards that Scottsburg was awarded one in music at the regional level. Scottsburg also placed in the top 10 at the contest, advancing on to the Semi-State round. Congratulations to the Band of Warriors!
After 5 days off from Regional, the band got back together for a rehearsal and performance at the first-ever IHSAA Football Sectional Game at Warrior Field, then traveled to Whiteland High School for a competition the next day. Strong, fierce winds and cold temperatures made for a very tough performance atmosphere, but Scottsburg continued on with their show. They were awarded 2nd place at the contest, falling just 1 point shy of winning their class. The Band of Warriors continue their season tomorrow afternoon at Decatur Central High School in the ISSMA Class C Semi-State competition. Scottsburg takes the field at 1:00 pm ET. Should the band place in the top 10, they will advance to State Finals held on November 3rd.
Congratulations to the students, staff, and directors on their Regional accolades and best of luck at Semi-State tomorrow!
