Central Middle School
Brrrr!!!!
It's sure cold out there! Help us out here at school by making sure that your students are appropriately dressed for the weather in the mornings!
Math This Week!
This week in 6th grade math, students are working on Unit 8: Data Analysis and Probability! I am looking forward to some fun activities that may or may not include OREOS!! If you'd be interested in sending a package with your student, let me know. This activity requires a LOT of Oreos!
In Pre-Algebra we started our unit on Exponent Rules which will lead us into Scientific Notation, Roots, and eventually the Pythagorean Theorem! Fun times :) No Oreos though :(
Reading and Literacy
In English, we will have a quiz over our Greek and Latin root words on Monday. Then we will finish up our folktales genre by taking a test over the various folktales we have read. After that, we will be working through informational text on zoos in the Close Reader pages 63-68.
In Literacy, we will begin the week with the Historical Fiction Slides being due. The students have been working so hard to create these. Please ask them to show you what they have learned and created. Monday we will go to the library to start our biography project. We will celebrate Black History Month by researching great writers, athletes, innovators... Thursday we will begin our presentations over our Histotical Novel!
Science and Social Studies!
In Ms. Jasper's science classes we will be modeling the circulatory system and the respiratory system. If you would like to donate any aquarium tubing or duck tape by Tuesday, Feb 5, that would be amazing.
In Ms. Jasper's social studies classes we will be working on learning about U.S. History and be doing some activities.
