Whakatauki Challenge

We are extending a challenge to our teams and community to come up with Whakatauki for each of our REACH words / kupu

Junior Team tamariki/children, parents/whanau need to find a whakatauki for Respect.

Middle Team tamariki/children, parents/whanau need to find a whakatauki for Expect

Senior Team tamariki/children, parents/whanau need to find a whakatauki for Achieve

Intermediate tamariki/children, parents/whanau need to find a whakatauki for Communicate.

And everyone to find a whakatauki for Hauora.

Moni's Marvellous Message - Production

We are well underway with our items. Thank you to all our helpers who are assisting with costumes, props etc.


During our planned Spring Break Monday 10 September, Our fabulous Emma Walker would like to see both casts.


Rata Cast - 0900 - 1100

Kowhai Cast 1100 - 1230

We will send a letter out next week to cast member with details. The practice will be here in our School Hall. If you are taking advantage of the long weekend, that is fine, family / whanau plans first.



If you are keen to assist in some way, with our production, please see the staff where your child is placed within the school and offer you assistance....many hands make light work.


We are aiming to have the show length around 70 mins, but we have booked 90 min time slot to be safe.

We have booked the performance dates and times as follows:

Friday 21 September Dress Rehearsal (Kowhai Cast) ( we will invite Marinoto Rest Home) 1100 - 1230

Mon 24 Sept - Final Dress Rehearsal (Rata Cast) (Early Childhoods invited) 1300 - 1430

Ticket sales for the following shows will go on sale next week.

Tuesday 25 Sept Matinee Show 1100 - 1230 - Kowhai Cast

Tuesday 25 Sept Evening Show 1800 -1930 - Rata Cast

Wednesday 26 Sept Final Performance 1800 -1930 - Kowhai Cast

Tickets are $2.00 per child (IPS students do not pay) $5.00 Adult, $10.00 for a family of two adults and two children. - Tickets will be available at the Office from Monday 13 August


Please note: When either Rata or Kowhai Casts are performing ALL children are involved in the Production in various team or class items.

For displaying great mana. Shyon is polite, friendly, respectful and leads by example.

Our school roll is currently 323.

Buddy Bench

Two buddy benches have been added to our school (one in the junior play area and one by the netball courts). These benches can be used by students during morning tea and lunch to find a friend. Sit on them if you are feeling lonely or don’t know who to play with and a kind friend will come along.

Clear plastic 1.5 litre bottles needed

We are building a shade house and we require, clean, clear 1.5 litre plastic bottles for this project. Please rinse and remove any paper/plastic advertising and send to school.

Absentee Line

When leaving a message it is important for our attendance records that you please leave a reason while your child is away eg; sick, appointment, holiday etc.

Sports/Group Photos - Wednesday 5 September

Please collect a prepaid envelope from the school office if you wish to order a photo.

Photos to be taken are:-

Netball, Interschool Netball, Rugby and Football, Hockey, Indoor Netball, PCT Challenge, Junior Kapahaka, Senior Kapahaka, Playground, Ground Crew, House Leaders, REACH, School Council, Sports Leaders, Year 8 Photo and ICT Techies.

Sports Information

Sports Uniforms: Thank You to all the students who have returned netball and hockey uniforms. As these seasons are now completed we would appreciate if sports uniforms for these sports could be returned to the office thanks.

Car Boot Sale - Saturday 1 September

We have a number of items we are selling (desks, furniture, books, student desks etc. We are inviting stall holders to come in and participate in our sale morning Saturday 1 September here at IPS 0900 - 1300. $10.00 entry for cars selling their wares If it is wet, stalls can be held in our school hall. School Cross Country

The School Cross Country is to be held Wednesday 29 August on the school fields. All students have been training hard with their class, and I have even noticed a number of students putting in some extra training after school. Races begin at 12.30 and will be in the following order, with girls running first within each age group and then boys at 5-minute intervals. Parents, caregivers and supporters are very welcome to join us for an afternoon of exciting racing and supporting our students as they give it their best. Please note the event will go ahead despite the weather on the day, so all students will need to be prepared to run. There'll be an early lunch for students on this day. Please dress in your house colours.

Order of racing: 13 & 12 years, Little Fighters, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11.

Spring Break

Just a reminder we have an approved Teacher Only Day Monday 10 September which will be a Spring break for whanau. Our staff will be involved in Professional Development this day. School will be closed for students on this day. Thank you in advance for your consideration.


PLEASE NOTE THIS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY WAS BOOKED IN AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR. At that time, we had no indication of a proposed Nationwide Strike for Teachers. Thank you in advance for you consideration.

Community News

The Stratford Volleyball Club is starting up a junior volleyball league running for 7 weeks. 17 October to 5 December, every Wednesday from 3.30pm to 5pm, TET Stadium Stratford, $10 per play for the season for years 6 to 8.
