Message from Mrs. Kilday
I hope you had a great weekend.
A huge thank you to everyone who shopped at the book fair or volunteered to help us with it. Our school sold almost $900 worth of books! This means we get 50% back to spend through scholastic! I am excited to get some new books for our classroom libraries! We will, be sure to let you know what we end up getting. Again, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported this effort.
We have parent conferences this week on Thursday and Friday. If you have not yet signed up for a conference but would like to, reach out to your child's classroom teacher. We are looking forward to having some time to connect with you.
This month is Autism Acceptance month and Mathematics and Statistics Awareness month! We will certainly be busy with both. For the month of April you will find both have a section in our newsletter. We will also have some special displays in our hallways as well.
We hope you find both informative.
Enjoy this week's newsletter!

COVID Updates
Autism Acceptance
According to the CDC, "Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability caused by differences in the brain. Some people with ASD have a known difference, such as a genetic condition. Other causes are not yet known. Scientists believe there are multiple causes of ASD that act together to change the most common ways people develop. "https://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/autism/facts.html
We have several students at our school with this diagnosis and they are all wonderful, unique individuals! This month we hope to share information and insights to encourage a shift from awareness to acceptance. Remember, acceptance is one of our core values at the Rodman!
Mathematics Month in Preschool
Each week we will highlight skills or vocabulary related to math. This week we are focusing on the words same and different. This is an important early skill to build as children start to compare quantities and sets of items. They will learn that grouping items together may be the same as one complete set of items. Using this vocabulary with your child in a variety of situations will help them build a solid understanding of the concepts.
