June Edition
From the Desk of Principal Anderson
Well, we are closing in on the end of the school year. Testing is winding down, field trips are in full gear, and sports are in the final two weeks. It is a downhill slide to the finish line!
As we wind up testing, we are starting to see some of the results. As expected, scores are lower than years past and are reflective of the cost of distance learning and a pandemic. Individual test scores are embargoed until late summer. At this writing I would like to suggest that parents encourage students to immerse themselves in reading and math through the summer. School staff worked relentlessly to close the achievement gap, but there is still a gap. We will be posting effective educational sites for math on our website(Khan Academy is a great place to start)...stay tuned. As for reading, find a great book, or magazine. Twenty minutes of reading and 20 minutes of math daily will do wonders. Playing games that involve math or words also gives students a wonderful boost.
Additionally, I would like to invite all students and parents to our June Sidewalk Sale-June 9th. Encourage your students to earn our positive behavior bolts as bolts are the only "cash" needed to purchase items from furniture to clothing; garbage disposals to diapers; kitchenware to games and books. The sale starts at 6pm-come early as it is first come, first serve.
In closing, I would like to wish everyone a well deserved and restful summer. We can visit and travel so take the family and explore. See you all in August at our back to school orientations. We will send out letters with dates and times-or just watch the website and parent square.
Thank you for your support throughout the year. I am blessed to have such great families.
Warmly,
Mrs. Anderson
