Principal's Message

Nau mai, haere mai St Joseph’s Whanau

It is Week six of Term 4 and there is now less than a month of 2022 schooling remaining. We encourage all to maintain the excellent effort in learning that has been seen throughout the year.

Whole School Mass: on Sunday was a special occasion with a very good turnout to celebrate Mass as a whole school and worship with the Parish community. Thank you Father Mark and St Joseph's Parish for this opportunity and the homily message.

Scripture Reading Festival: On Wednesday the finalists took part in the Years 3 to 8 Scripture Reading Festival. Winners of the two sections were Year 7/8 Ezra Arnephy, Year 5/6 Caleb Fisher. Well done to all participants and a special congratulations to Ezra and Caleb.

School Athletics Day: was a great success on Thursday last week. A special thank you to parents who were able to attend. Prayers were answered for a fine day. We are proud of our children who demonstrated their sporting talents and sportsmanship in competition. Congratulations to St Bernadette's House who won the House Competition!

District Inter-School Athletics meet Yrs 3 - 6 : was on today Tuesday 22nd November at the Morrinsville College. Our students performed really well - congratulation team !! We now await for the final results for all events to be announced.

A prayer for the coming week:

Dear Lord

We thank you for our families

We thank you for friends and all who are special to us.

We ask that as Advent is about to begin,

You would bring our focus on to You, our Almighty God,

On to Your amazing plan for our good,

And that in the business of Christmas that has already begun,

That we might keep our focus on Your precious gift, Your Son Jesus Christ.

Every blessing and have a great week.

Reflection shared from Jemma Van Eijk, DRS

First Sunday of Advent - 27th November - Scripture focus: Matthew 24:37-44

Jesus said that when the flood of Noah’s time came, no-one was prepared or ready, except Noah. Just like this, when the Son of God comes again, we need to make sure that we are prepared and ready because we will not know when this will happen.

So what does this mean for us?

It means that Jesus said that He will come back to us, but we will not know the day or time. So, we must make sure that we are ready for Him by following the examples of Jesus as much as we can. Advent is a time to prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus. We must be willing to accept Jesus into our hearts, and prepare for His return by treating others with kindness and love.

As we light the first candle of Advent, the candle of Hope, we must have faith that God continues to love us.

We need to prepare for Christmas by opening our hearts to understand the lessons of Jesus.

We need to prepare for Christmas by acting with love and kindness towards others.

Dear Jesus our Lord,

Help us to feel you in our hearts,

in everything that we say and do.

Fill our hearts with hope,

so that we live each day helping others,

and preparing for you at Christmas.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Have a safe and blessed week, Aroha Mai
