News & Updates
Hello CELC & MVLA Families,
Welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed your fall break. My family and I went on a road trip to Arizona. It was the first time we have traveled since COVID-19. The fun and relaxation was long overdue. We visited the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Williams, and Flagstaff. I bought a new shirt at NAU to wear on Mondays!
Our Annual Turkey Trot was a success. Thank you to everyone that came out to support the event. If you didn't get a chance to donate, we are still taking donations through the end of the week. You may Venmo the PTA or send in a check. If you have any questions, call Stephanie in the front office 619-659-8250. We will announce our final earnings and top fundraisers next week.
As a reminder, if your child is out on a independent study contract, please check in at the school office to turn in the paperwork when they return to school. Thank you for your support.
The District continues to be guided by California Department of Public Health and our experiences from last year. Thank you for your support while we navigate the 2021-22 school year.

We are surveying our 3rd-8th graders, the staff, and the parents to gather data to help improve our schools’ climates. Please take a few minutes to fill out the parent survey:

New Ways November
Join our AUSD family in utilizing resources at www.actionforhappiness.org. They have monthly themes and ideas to help keep us Happier-Kinder-Together!
This month, Action for Happiness is encouraging you to try something new! Learning something new or getting involved in an activity that really absorbs and interests us is great for our wellbeing. Keeping our brains active is not only good for us physically but it can help you feel you are flourishing as you see yourself make progress with a new skill, or just make you smile as you make a mess and decide to start again. :) Being playful and trying new things is important, as is remembering that it's OK not to get it right first time - change "I can't do it", into "I can't do it...yet!" This month's calendar is full of ideas to help you decide what to try next.
Spirit Days
Wednesdays Mid-Week Mindfulness: wear a shirt with a positive message
Fridays School Spirit Day: wear your school shirt or school colors

The district would like to increase the number of substitute teachers in our pool. The pay has increased to $200 dollars a day. Please help spread the word. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call Mrs. Ripke.
