Family Newsletter - Week of March 30, 2020
Distance Learning is a New Challenge
Dear parents,
We know that you are not a teacher. Your main goal is to parent and our goal is to provide support and guidance to help you and your child/ren learn and adapt to this new way of learning. No one was prepared for this new challenge. However, we have strong common bonds. We are in this together. We care about/for and love our children.
Together we can accomplish so much more and we need each other. It is our human nature. Each day is a new opportunity for you to enjoy each other as a family. There is no perfect plan to go about this and each family's plan will look completely different. All of us work differently. Some students like to sit down and get all their work done right away. Others, need to have it woven into their day with breaks of physical and/or relaxing activities. Each child and each family needs to find what works for them. We are here to support you and each other in this process. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us and we will put you in contact with the right member of our team to provide the best support.
Every Monday you will receive this Family Newsletter. It is your source for information. Our newsletters can be found on our website.
Every Wednesday, you will receive our Wellness Newsletter. This newsletter focuses on support and guidance for the social-emotional needs that may arise from anxiety about Covid 19. It also has ideas and resources for family activities. It is authored by our school counselors, school social worker, school psychologists and school nurse. All their contact information can be found in this newsletter. This will also be posted on our website.
If you have any questions during this process, please reach out to your child's teacher, adviser, building principal or me. Our contact information will be found in each newsletter. We are here for you. We are TR!

Special Education supports and children with IEP's
We are committed to ensuring students with IEPs and 504 plans have equal access to the same educational opportunities offered to all students during this time. To the greatest extent possible, each student with a disability will be provided the special education and related services identified in the student’s IEP developed under IDEA, or a plan developed under Section 504.
Special education staff will reach out to discuss how your child’s learning will be supported, how IEP services may be affected and/or provided virtually, and to set up a communication plan with you during the closure.
We are here to assist you. If you have concerns after being contacted by your child’s school special education staff, please contact Special Education Director:
Virtual Learning and Learning Packets
Learning Packets will be mailed to all Early Childhood, 4K and Kindergarten students.
We are also mailing Learning Packets to students without internet access. If you know a family that does not have internet access, please have them contact their child's building principal. There are resources available for families to have the internet installed. We want every child to have this opportunity for learning.
If you do not receive Learning Packets packets this week, please let your child's teacher know.
