Martin MS Newsletter November 2018
Principal's Corner
Dear Martin Community,
I am happy to report that we have transitioned well after completely revamping our master schedule last month. Our teachers and students have reestablished relationships and our new teachers are now part of the Martin Family. I appreciate the support of our parents and support staff who helped us through this process. We can always count on our community to rally in times of need.
It is most appropriate during this festive season to reflect and give thanks for all of our blessings. I am grateful for our staff who consistently make personal and professional sacrifices in order to serve our community. I am grateful for the good health that my family and I are blessed with. I am grateful for the strong relationships between staff, students, parents, and community members. Thank you for all that you do to support our students.
As you enjoy the company of family and friends, please keep in mind Monday, November 26th is a Martin District of Innovation day. Students do not have school; however, teachers will receive professional development throughout the day. Parents have the opportunity to request a parent conference during the morning. To request a parent conference, email me at monica.delagarza-conness@austinisd.org.
I hope that this holiday creates many happy memories for you and your family. We look forward to seeing everyone back at Martin on Tuesday, November 27th.

Students of the Month
Mia Benavides Lopez
Mia is a pleasure to have in class. She is a very polite student who always works hard and follows directions. When working with other students, she is the ultimate team player by checking in on her classmates to make sure they are doing their best. Mia goes above and beyond to support her classmates who need some extra help. Congratulations on a job well done, Mia!
Brittney Acosta
Brittney is such a great student to have in class. She is so attentive, respectful, and well-prepared for each class. It is her positive attitude in the face of adversity that pushes her over the top. In the band, she is a tuba player and is very dedicated to music, and she was also part of the Lady Eagles volleyball team. She is a strong leader and is always on task and focused in anything that she tackles. Keep up the hard work, Brittney!
Hollis Holleman
Hollis is the epitome of the ideal band student. He is polite, attentive, and hard-working. Where all the beginning band students are still at the very early point in the method book, Hollis has more than completed half on his own time. His dedication and work ethic are beyond remarkable. It is truly a pleasure to have him as part of the new 6th grade cohort. Way to go, Hollis!
