Martin MS Newsletter November 2018

Principal's Corner

Dear Martin Community,

I am happy to report that we have transitioned well after completely revamping our master schedule last month. Our teachers and students have reestablished relationships and our new teachers are now part of the Martin Family. I appreciate the support of our parents and support staff who helped us through this process. We can always count on our community to rally in times of need.

It is most appropriate during this festive season to reflect and give thanks for all of our blessings. I am grateful for our staff who consistently make personal and professional sacrifices in order to serve our community. I am grateful for the good health that my family and I are blessed with. I am grateful for the strong relationships between staff, students, parents, and community members. Thank you for all that you do to support our students.

As you enjoy the company of family and friends, please keep in mind Monday, November 26th is a Martin District of Innovation day. Students do not have school; however, teachers will receive professional development throughout the day. Parents have the opportunity to request a parent conference during the morning. To request a parent conference, email me at monica.delagarza-conness@austinisd.org.

I hope that this holiday creates many happy memories for you and your family. We look forward to seeing everyone back at Martin on Tuesday, November 27th.

Proud Partner

Silicon Labs

Over the last several years, Martin Middle School and Silicon Labs have fostered a partnership like no other. As a day job, Silicon Labs produces micro-chips that serve as the brains inside all of our modern day high-tech tools like laptops, phones, screens, and more. At Martin MS, Silicon Labs partners in numerous ways. Before the school year begins, Silicon Labs volunteers flock to Martin to help teachers set up classrooms. During the year, you may see a Silicon Labs employee mentoring a students or working in our garden. They even sponsor the Innovation Academy at Martin (IAM) by purchasing shirts for all IAM students and welcoming our 8th graders on field trips. Whatever the request, Silicon Labs is there to support the Martin community.

Thank you to Jackie and the rest of the Silicon Labs team!
