Clipper Family Weekly Updates
PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
Greetings Clipper Family!! Please see this week's updates! Reminder to check the PGCPS website for weather alerts. Also, this week, marks the end to the second quarter on Friday, January 19th. See specifics below regarding the Asynchronous Learning Day on Monday, January 22nd. For questions regarding academics, please follow-up with the professional school counselor.
Asynchronous Day Notice:
Monday, January 22, 2024 will be the second of three half-days of asynchronous learning for students and teachers in Prince George’s County Public Schools. Schools will be closed and, instead of attending in person, instruction will be “asynchronous,” which means lessons and attendance forms will be shared without live instruction through Canvas. Attendance forms must be completed by 11:59 pm on January 22 and will be entered in SchoolMax for this day of asynchronous learning; due dates and times for asynchronous assignments will vary. Scholars should be sure to access Canvas in order to fully participate and earn credit for their attendance and work during asynchronous learning. Parents/guardians, please contact your scholar’s grade level administrator if technical issues or some other emergency prevents your scholar from accessing their virtual program. Oxon Hill High School’s Library Media Specialist, Mrs. Crocheron carla.crocheron@pgcps.org, may also be consulted for technical assistance. Contact Mrs. Asamoah amber.heller@pgcps.org if you have any questions or concerns regarding the Virtual/Asynchronous Instructional Program at Oxon Hill High School.

ATTENDANCE AND GRADES MATTER
School attendance plays a major part in student achievement. Being chronically absent or missing 10% of the school year (about 18 days) for lawful or unlawful reasons can drastically affect a student’s academic success.
School achievement begins with regular attendance. Parents/guardians must ensure that all school-age children in their care are in school on time daily. Attendance must be taken every day by each teacher, the first 15 minutes of every class.
