Happy Friday Bobcats!
We have had another great (short) week here at GBS. Looking forward to next week - please note that the PTO is meeting for the first time this year on Wednesday October 19 at 6pm. Now that we are back to our "regularly scheduled programming" there are lots of opportunities to get involved with the school. Please join us!
Next week is the last week of the middle school fall sports season for Soccer, Field Hockey, Volleyball and Cross Country. If you haven't had a chance to see our teams in action, please stop by. Home games are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday! Go Bobcats!
Picture Retake day will be November 10. If your student was absent or you would like to have your student retake their school picture, please email your student's advisor.
Please read below for some important information regarding AM drop-off.
Have a great weekend!
Be well,
Kat

Summer Programming Survey
Please see this note from the District Director of Learning Recovery:
As the Director of Learning Recovery, I want to be sure that our programming is designed to support all students. With that, I would like your feedback regarding the Summer Programming offered this past summer.
While I have heard from many of the families whose children attended Explore and Expand and Summer Academy this past summer, I would like feedback from families of students who did not attend. Your feedback will help us to make adjustments and increase access to our summer programs.
Using this link, please complete this 4 question survey. If you have multiple students at different levels, please complete the survey for each level.
Thank you in advance for your time.

Smart Devices
If your student has a Smart Device please let them know that the use of this device falls under the expectations of our phone procedure outlined in the student handbook. Smart Devices should be placed in "Airplane Mode" or remain in student's backpacks so that they are not a distraction throughout the day.
If you need to contact your student during the day, please do not text or call your student on their phone or Smart Device, but instead call the main office. Our office staff can very quickly contact your student and relay information to them or have them call you. By adhering to this request, you are helping your student comply with the expectations set forth in our student handbook. Thank you for your cooperation.
Is your middle schooler excited about Halloween? So are we! On Friday, October 28, staff and students may wear their (school appropriate) costumes. Costumes may include masks and must not be excessively gory. No weapons (real or fake) are allowed and costumes must not impede the safety or learning of others in the building. Students may be asked to take their costume off if it is providing a distraction or a safety hazard to themself or others.
Help Send 8th Graders to DC
The 8th grade DC Trip is back on and we are so excited! The cost of the trip is approximately $900 per student and our goal is to make sure every student who wants to go, can get there! There are a few ways to start helping (and more will be on the way):
- Charleston Wrap - do a little shopping for a great cause! you can help by clicking on this link.
- GBS Magnets - If you missed out on the opportunity to purchase a GBS Bobcats car magnet at Open House, you can send in $5.00 (cash or check made out to GBS) with your child, and we will send one home to you! 100% of sales goes directly to the scholarship fund!
If you (or someone you know) are willing to sponsor a student or would like to donate to the scholarship fund, please contact Kristin Testagrossa (ktestagrossa@conval.edu) in the GBS office.
