Hello Spring!
Dress Code Policy – With the warm weather approaching we ask that you review the Dress Code Policy listed in our Student Handbook with your children
Based on our Five Core Values of Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Kindness, and Service, we believe that it is essential to our school's climate that we set a standard of expectation and decorum for students attending South Brunswick High School. The purpose of our dress code is not to restrict individuality, but to provide the environment that best lets academic individuality be recognized where it belongs - in the classroom.
Each year, we ask for input from various stakeholders who review our dress code. We strive to prepare students for life and careers. Our dress code was created to promote a positive and serious learning environment. It was also created to teach students how to make decisions about appropriate dress for the occasion -including school and the workplace.
We also recognize that our dress code should be supported in collaboration by SBHS, our students and parents/guardians. We strongly recommend that the enforcement of our dress code starts at home and that students and parents are aware of our expectations. We would like all students to adhere to the following expectations, as well as know that all members of our faculty and staff have the authority to hold students accountable for violations. Please note that we cannot fully predict/include all circumstances. For that reason, the administration reserves the right to determine whether a student’s attire is appropriate for the educational environment.
Driving on Campus - REMINDER
- If you must drive your children to school in the morning, please remember that our building is open starting at 7:00 AM. The earlier you drop off, the less traffic you will encounter.
- There have been a few reports of parents allowing their children to exit their cars in the center lane with cars passing them on the passenger side of the car - this practice is very dangerous. You must drop off your son/daughter curbside only.
- If your son/daughter is eligible to take the bus, utilize this form of transportation so that the volume of cars decrease in the morning.
Please be patient while driving on campus, drop your children off curbside in the designated drop off lane, and stop at crosswalks for pedestrians.
Thank you,
Peter Varela

Planning Summer Vacations
Hidden in Plain Sight
The Hidden in Plain Sight workshop will be held on Monday and it is SBPA's last workshop of the year. This workshop is especially important for parents in grades 6-12, as it addresses how easily alcohol, drugs and paraphernalia can be hidden in plain sight in a teenager’s bedroom, bathroom and other locations within a home or car. Parents will be educated on the latest substance abuse trends, signs and symptoms, vitally important to keeping our teens (and pre-teens) safe!
