Hello, from Mrs.B!
Classroom Updates
ELA
In ELA we are still working through our theme unit. Students will be working with theme for the next couple of weeks and will have several opportunities to grow and show mastery. We will also be starting Walk Two Moons next week if you would like to buy your student a individual copy they may take home.
This week we will also be producing our final draft on our first writing piece.
The stories are looking and sounding great.
Today we took our 1st of 3 cold reads for the quarter. The next one will be in approximately 3 weeks.
Don't forget that vocabulary is due this Wednesday. ( 1 bingo ) If you need another copy you can find it in Edmodo, in my folders,

Social Studies
We have a lot going on in Social Studies!! Students are working on their Settler's blogs. The students were assigned a homeland and a new colony and will be creating a blog from the perspective of one of these settlers.
We will be continuing to work in Chapter 3. This week we will also be focusing on Lesson 2: The English colony in Virgina.
Also, we will be starting on our first DBQ. I LOVE DBQs!! It gives the students an opportunity to play detectives and see history through resources other than our text books.

Pennies for Paws!!
VRA will begin their second annual Pennies for Paws collection Monday, November 2nd to Friday, November 13th. We will be collecting money for the K9 For Warriors camp located across the street from Valley Ridge Academy. Last year the collection just under $1000 so we would like to raise over $1000. You will see donation buckets throughout the school and teachers will be given a Ziploc bag to collect money. The bags will be picked up daily.
