Think! Energy Presentation

On Friday, we participated in a Think! Energy presentation conducted by the National Energy Foundation. Each child was given a Take Action Kit of energy efficient products to take hoe to share with you! I hope you had an opportunity over the weekend to explore the kit and install some of the products in your home!

Now, our classroom needs your help! If 80% of our classroom completes the survey linked below, we will earn $100 for our classroom!

Way to go!!

This week, we are competing for the top 2 spots!

If you didn't earn a prize last week, that's ok! You can still earn one this week!

The overall AR point earner during all 4 weeks will win a special t-shirt and get to play in a basketball game against the teachers!

Get reading!

Math

Lesson 7.5 is the last lesson of Chapter 7. Ideally, I would like to hold the Chapter 7 test on Thursday or possibly Tuesday. This week would be a perfect time to fix up math workbook assignments, in preparation for the test!

Math Facts

Math facts are an important tool that help us become more efficient in our math practice. Please continue to study math facts on a regular basis. Using old quizzes that come home in the Data Binder are a great way to start!

AR

We are winding down to the last few days of the marking period. This means your child has until April 1st to reach their AR goal.

Children should be reading every night, as assigned in the weekly homework packet.

There are thousands of AR titles available for AR quizzes. They should be bringing their AR books home every night and bringing them back to school each day. If your child is forgetful, it is perfectly acceptable to read one AR book at home and another at school.

Library books are welcome to go home, but I do prefer my classroom collection stays in the classroom (I will make exceptions if there is a prior arrangement).

Please find a routine that works for you and your student.

Science Research

We are finishing up the 4th grade Matter standards this week. Next concept on the agenda is electricity!

Writing

There are some beautiful research pieces on display in the hallway! If you get a chance, stop by a read a few. The 4th graders have been working very hard to get them completed. Once their first piece is complete and on display in the hallway, they are expected to follow the procedures for then researching a topic of their choice! I can't wait to read about what they choose to research!

Data Binders

I hope you have gotten a chance to look through your child's Data binder with them this week, as they have been working hard!

Please talk about the weekly reflection and set a goal for this week with your child.
