Bring your Sense and your Cents to Academy!
Your quarters add up. Support Crosby Scholars with your change and change lives!
Bring a quarter (or twenty five cents) to any Senior Academy for our 25 Cents Campaign!
In celebration of our 25th anniversary year, we want to raise $5,000 from students to be matched by a corporate sponsor for an overall goal of $10,000. Funds will be divided among the high schools so one graduating senior and one underclassman can receive a scholarship for college. All students who contribute will receive a piece of candy upon donation.
Let’s make cents for college!
NC Residency Determination Program - Are you a NC resident?
All students who apply to any North Carolina public, private, or community college after February 20, 2017 are required to complete the NC Residency Determination Interview.
The Residency Determination Service (RDS) was established in coordination with the University of North Carolina, the North Carolina Community College System, the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority, and the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities as the centralized service for determining residency for students. This service enables a student to use one residency determination for admissions applications to multiple North Carolina public colleges and universities and to demonstrate residency for state aid programs consideration at all (public and private) North Carolina colleges and universities.
If you have any questions, contact your Crosby Scholars Senior Advisor or call our office.

Where Will You Be Next Fall?!
Step on a Campus!
One of the most important factors in choosing a college is comparing the impressions gained and knowledge acquired during campus visits. It is virtually impossible to compare schools when offers of admission are received if you have visited some but not others. As our summer meetings revealed, many of you have visited fewer than 50% of the colleges on your target list, and you might think that you have run out of time for campus tours.
Good news! Monday, October 30 and Friday, November 10 are school holidays. Please consider using one or both of them to visit colleges you are applying to but have not visited in order to confirm your desire to apply to, much less attend those schools. Don’t delay—book your campus visits today! Sometimes a college has all the right features but just doesn’t “feel” right during your time on campus, and that can be a reason to remove that institution from consideration. On the other hand, you might feel lukewarm about a college until your campus tour, when it suddenly seems like home and becomes the school you most want to attend.
We will be hosting a Senior Academy to help share ways to make the most of your college visits -- CSA #12 Making the Most of Your College Visits, Tuesday, September 12 from 6:00-7:30 pm.
Selecting the Best Option(s) for YOU!
Posted in your Crosby Scholars student portal is a summary of various options for submitting college applications. As you begin applying to colleges, please make sure that you understand the requirements and limitations of each. If you are unclear on the guidelines for a particular school, communicate with someone in the admission office until you understand the expectations. Policies vary, especially under Restrictive Early Action, and it is best to be absolutely certain how to proceed. Good luck as you embark on application season and decide which option(s) is/are best for you—Early Action, Early Decision I and II, Restrictive Early Action (also known as Single-Choice Early Action), Regular Admission, or Rolling Admission!

Seeking Institutional Merit Aid
As you begin completing college applications, remember that a potential source of financial support is institutional merit aid—aid that comes from the college or university. Colleges and universities that award merit scholarships often have earlier application deadlines and might or might not require an additional application form for merit aid consideration.
You can find a list of NC College Scholarship pages in your Crosby Scholars student portal. We hope this information will be helpful in guiding you to possible funding assistance. Schools outside of North Carolina have similar information on the financial aid sections of their websites.
