*marzo maravilloso*
Marvelous March
In the lead up to Spring Break we have some big things happening in Spanish class. The end of Trimester 2 is Friday, March 3rd and is soon after followed by conferences on March 9th (pm) and March 10th (am). By the time we get to Spring Break 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students will have completed summative assessments to finish their current curriculum units. This means some of the first Trimester 3 grades will be summative and that students need to put forth their best effort at the start of the fresh, new trimester in order to set themselves up for a strong finish to the 2022-2023 school year.

*Las comidas - The foods*
To finish up their food unit, sixth grade scholars will be creating their own version of the popular children's story, La oruga muy hambrienta. Students will also be participating in another partner conversation to discuss the foods they like and have in common.
"La oruga muy hambrienta"
We read this popular story as a class. Now students will have to create their own version based in a Spanish-speaking country.
¡Dibujar!
A class game of Pictionary to review our food vocabulary. Lots of hands were up to guess Ella's drawing of "el chocolate caliente."
"Soy Luna"
A real Spanish television program that we watch from time-to-time to serve as authentic listening practice. While watching students are expected to answer sets of Spanish and English comprehension questions to check for their understanding.
~ 7° Grado ~
*La casa - The house*
After some time practicing -ar present tense verb conjugation in February, we will now be extending our present tense conjugation skills to -er and -ir verbs. As we are continuing this all important skill, we will continue to have weekly quizzes to monitor student progress with present tense regular conjugation.
We will be wrapping up our House & Chores unit with a couple of summative assessments this month. These assessments are particularly important because they are not only a summative grade, but a portion of the Nicolet High School Spanish Level 1 Placement Test. As a part of this, seventh grade students will be completing their first on-demand Spanish writing piece and a reading test.
Regular Present Tense Conjugation Organizer
This month students will be finishing their conjugation organizers with -er and -ir endings, as well as conjugated verb examples.
LOS QUEHACERES
This vocabulary is still important for students to review and know for their assessments.
LA CASA
Students have house packets filled with vocabulary about different rooms in a house and common objects/furniture in those rooms.
~ 8° Grado ~
*La escuela - The school*
Eighth grade scholars will be using their extended school related vocabulary and skills to wrap up the unit this month with an on-demand writing piece, a reading assessment, and a listening assessment.
Check out students practicing and using the present progressive form below! One activity had students moving all around the classroom. Another asked students to create a retelling of "David se mete en líos," by David Shannon.
¡Corre en círculo!
To practice the present progressive form students had to find the correct green papers in the correct order all around the classroom.
Trabajan en parejas
Students worked in pairs to work through the conjugations correctly.
Todos estaban participando :)
All students were participating and were engaged in this activity throughout the class period!
