Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Finalist
Congratulations to Grecia Alcantar, a senior from East Chicago Central High School. She is one of 18 Lake County Finalists for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship.
Grecia is captain of her soccer team, a member of the unified track and field team, participates in Spanish club and part of the National Technical Honors Society.
Grecia plans to major in Sociology and possibly minor in ethnic or women's studies.
To date, the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship has provided nearly 5000 scholarships to Indiana high school seniors to attend any public or private university in the state. Legacy Foundation is proud to work with ICI to be the provider in Lake County.
Harrison Elementary School
Enchanted Backpack Donation
On Tuesday, November 22, 2021 Harrison received a donation of items valued at over $40,000 from an organization called enchanted backpack! This donation is full of surprises that include school supplies, recess equipment, coats, hats, 1500-1800 brand new books, surprises for staff and MORE!
Harrison has been blessed to receive this donation as only 50 schools are selected each year! They went thru an application process, interview process and Harrison was selected..... Congratulations!!!!!
The students of Harrison Elementary welcomed the delivery with thank you signs as they were delivering their items.
Congratulations Linda Padilla, principal of Harrison Elementary School and Mr. Rios who is the teacher who made it possible and shared the information.

McKinley is excited to announce that thanks to parents, students and staff, the McKinley Gents Thanksgiving Food Drive collected over 500 canned and dry goods!!! WIN stands for What I Need. This is a time built into our daily schedules for small group interventions to help students who need additional support but also enrich our students who are at or above grade level. We are asking parents/caregivers when you see WIN please help your child where help is needed. WIN!!! WIN!! WIN!!!
IREADY
SCEC - IREADY TESTING NOVEMBER 29 to December 10th
Students in Kinder thru 8th grade will be taking the second round of IREADY . Each student will take the test in Reading and Math. It is IMPORTANT that attendance and student participation is very important. Testing begins on November 30th until December 10th.
The data will help to get to know the student better and ensure they are given what they need.
