SchoolCity Reminders
As we are nearing the end of the semester and everyone prepares for midterms, more teachers are starting to look at SchoolCity. Here are some the common issues we've seen recently and how to resolve them:
- Answer documents not scanning correctly: The scanners being used are not new and we're finding often that they are dirty. Dirty scanners don't work as well as clean ones. To fix this, use a baby wipe or 50 to clean the rollers inside the top cover. Teachers will need to rescan any tests that they had problems with previously. If the scanner is still not working, please submit a Unity ticket for it.
- Mistakes on the answer key: If you have already scanned the answer sheets, here is what to do to rescore the test and select a new answer as the correct answer:
Click the key icon next to the test name (same place you found the printer icon).
When the rescoring options open, find the question that has an incorrect answer.
Click the CORRECT answer. It should now be red.
Click Save at the bottom.
- Changing the administration window: To extend the window, check the box next to the name of the test that you need to alter. Then, above the list of tests, in the same row of icons as the Share button, find the Calendar button. When you click it, it will give you the option to update the administration window. I would suggest always leaving it open a little longer than you think you might need.
- Keep student scores hidden: To keep students from being able to see the scores, go to Assessments (tab, not card), find the test, check the box next to the test name, then look for the row of icons above the list of assessment. One of the very last ones will be an S with that crossed-through circle. If you hover over it, it will say Embargo - Students Only. Click it and go through the set-up to "embargo" the test from students.
#12DaysTwitter #forsythpln Challenge
You all know how much I love Twitter! For the next 12 days (starting Wednesday, December 6, 2017) we will issue a challenge with one task to complete each day. If you haven't gotten in to Twitter yet to see how much it can offer in the way of micro-PD and PLN-building, this might be a great way to dip your toe. View this Google Doc to see each day's challenge (still subject to change before I head to bed tonight!).
