TREP Donations

Thank you very much to all of our friends and families that donated to TREP! We had over 150 items donated to our local TREP agency. There is never any doubt how committed this community is in supporting our families and to paying it forward! It is also a good lesson for our students....as compassion is one of our character traits here at Koenig Elementary!

Veterans Day Celebration

On Friday, November 10th veterans are welcome to attend our program here at Koenig at 1:30. If you have a veteran that would like to attend, please notify the office at 794-7522. This is also a day to wear red, white and blue! Thank you for your years of service and the sacrifices you have made!

It's Report Card Time!

Can you believe it is the end of Quarter 1 already? Report cards will be coming home for Grades 1-4 on Friday, November 10th as well as a second copy during the parent/teacher conferences. The reason being that we would like you to review the information, have conversations with your child and then, to bring any questions/concerns you may have TO the parent/teacher conference.

Kindergarten students will NOT be bringing them home until the week of conferences. Because the information and the format are new to our parents, we would like to explain the components in person.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or the classroom teacher at any time.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Monday, Nov. 13th, 3:15pm to Thursday, Nov. 16th, 6pm

1118 Lowell Street

Two Rivers, WI

Confirmation slips will be coming home this evening! Please make sure you add this to your home calendars as it is very important that we get 100% attendance at conferences. If you cannot make the time scheduled, please contact the classroom teacher directly. We look forward to seeing you!

Yoga Day!

Still, a question remains. How and why is yoga beneficial for children and adolescents, and specifically, in the school setting? Research on yoga in schools has grown exponentially over the past 5 - 10 years, and while the results are still preliminary, scientists are beginning to understand why yoga serves as such a valuable component of school curricula nationwide.

Research suggests that school-based yoga cultivates competencies in mind-body awareness, self-regulation, and physical fitness, These competencies may lead to improvements in students’ behavior, mental state, health, and performance, as well as teacher resilience, effectiveness and overall classroom climate.

On Monday, November 20th we will have our first YOGA DAY here at Koenig Elementary! Please have your child wear comfortable clothes. Both Mrs. Hansen and Mrs. Slickman will lead us into relaxation!

What Is Going On In The Library Media Center?

A lot has been going on in the Library Media Center. Kindergarten students have been learning about what an author does and what an illustrator does. They have also been learning about what makes up a character in a story. First grade just finished up learning about how to find a “just right book” and the “five-finger-test”. They will be now learning about fairytales, folktales, and fables. Over the past few weeks Second grade learned about the parts of a book and will now be learning about the differences between fiction and nonfiction books. Third grade will be learning how to locate easy and fiction books in a library. Fourth grade will be learning about the Dewey Decimal system and how to locate nonfiction books in a library.

The Library Media Center’s website has a wealth of information. When you visit the website you will find resources on digital etiquette and internet safety games and resources. You will also find reading resources you can us with your children to help them become better readers.
