Worthington Park Shark Sentinel

Friday, March 25th, 2022

Dear Worthington Park Families,

Spring had finally sprung (even if Ohio temperatures continue to swing up and down!) As we turn our attention to the last portion of the year, our students and staff are excited to continue working hard and learning together.

We look forward to opening our new outdoor learning pavilion in the coming weeks and look forward to hosting community events next month including our 5th-Grade outdoor choir concert, Spring Fling, and Kindergarten 22-23 Open House!

Please take a few minutes to review the information below. We are excited to welcome all of our Sharks back on Monday for another amazing week. Go Sharks!

Ohio State Testing 3rd- 5th Grade

Starting this week, students in grades 3, 4, and 5 at Worthington Park will begin taking their Ohio State Test in the area of English Language Arts. Students will take this assessment on Tuesday, March 29th, and Wednesday, March 30th. It is very important that all of our sharks are attending school on these days so they can show all they know on this assessment. Additional items you can do at home to support your child before testing include:

  • Get a good night's rest the night before
  • Eat a healthy and filling breakfast before coming to school
  • Remind them to take their time

Looking for more information about the State ELA assessment? Here is a link to the Parent Resource Folder from the Ohio Department of Education!

Students will take the Math assessment and Science (5th grade only) upon returning after spring break.

Car Magnets from Worthington Park Student Council

Worthington Park Student Council is selling 4” car magnets for $5.00 each. If you would like to purchase a magnet, please return this order form to your child’s teacher by Friday, April 8. Include cash (exact amount only) or a check made payable to Worthington Park Elementary. Magnet(s) will be sent home with your child. A paper form is coming home with your child today!

Spring Break Reminder

Just a reminder to all Worthington families, Spring Break this school year for all Worthington Schools will begin after dismissal on Friday, April 8th, and continue until we reopen on Monday, April 18th. We hope your family is able to enjoy this time and we look forward to welcoming all of our Sharks back!

Spring Panorama Survey for 3rd-5th Grader Students

We thank you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to educate the children in our district. As you may already be aware, building our well-being and social-emotional learning skills is an important goal for our school this year and every year. Over the next few weeks, students will participate in several exercises to better understand these concepts and to reflect on how they perceive these skills in themselves.

As we have done for the last four years, we will be asking for your child to reflect on his/her own mindsets and approaches to learning via an online survey. The survey shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes to complete and will be administered during a two-week window from March 28 - April 8, 2022.

We are partnering with Panorama Education, a third-party vendor, to support us in administering these surveys. The survey content will ask students in grades 3-12 to self-reflect on School Safety, Teacher-Student Relationships, Sense of Belonging, Rigorous Expectations, and Self-Efficacy. Our students in grades 6-12 will also be asked to self-reflect on two additional topics; Diversity and Inclusion and Cultural Awareness.

Student voice matters to us, and their responses will provide invaluable insights into their experiences in how we can improve and adapt our instruction to meet their needs. If a student doesn’t feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether. Worthington Park's staff will share out the specific dates for the survey with parents in the coming days!

Infinite Campus Unavailable April 11-13

Infinite Campus will be unavailable April 11-13 to transition services to Infinite Campus’ data centers. This move will help ensure Infinite Campus has minimal disruptions (outages) moving forward and will help keep our system up to date and secure.

After the move, starting April 14, the webpage link to Worthington Schools Infinite Campus will change. All of the webpage addresses on our Website and parent portals will be updated, but anyone who has bookmarked it will need to update their url. Families who use the mobile app will also need to reconnect the app to our district.

Thank you
