Teachers,
Since April is library month, we will be doing a contest through the library. Some students already know about this, but not all…yet. If your students have not heard about the contest, and you want to go ahead and tell them about it that is fine. If not, I will let them know as I see them next week.
Students are being encouraged to read a chapter book – THE WHOLE BOOK! When they are finished, they will tell any of the teachers/principals/librarian etc. who is willing to listen and sign off on the form. The only stipulation is that they must convince you they have read the whole book. You may ask them questions (including how the book ends) before signing off. Once you have signed off, they may bring the form to the library for a reward. They will also get their picture made with their book, and be allowed to do a short book review on stage during lunch if they would like. This is what the form looks like:
I read the whole book!
Name: _______________________________________________________________
Book: _________________________________________________________________
Teacher/Librarian Signature _______________________________________________
Teachers of kinder and first may adjust this to fit students who are not yet reading chapter books. However, please make sure it is still as much of a challenge for them as the other students. See me if you need clarification.
I will put forms in your boxes. If you need more please send a student down or call the library and let me know. My hope is that our students will begin to see the importance of finishing the books they start. Let’s see how many novels our students can read during the month of April!
Thanks,
Lori Tucker, MLS

Safety Drills - April
Later this month, our campus will be practicing two safety drills. An evacuation and a shelter in place drill will better prepare our student for emergencies.

Every Moment Counts!
ATTENDANCE POLICY
Every minute Counts!
· School Starts at 7:40am and the final bell rings at 7:50am.
· Your student’s attendance directly affects their success and we want them to SUCCEED!
· 3 Parent Notes for excused absences will be accepted for each student per year.
· If your student has 10+ unexcused absences in a 6 month period, your case will be referred to attendance court.
· If your student has 18+ total absences, excused or unexcused, the attendance committee will review absences and create a program for credit recovery in order to prevent retention.
