A tragic American event
What happend?
In 1929, the US stock market crashed because the stocks fell on October 29, causing people to panic. Many people lost their jobs and went bankrupt. Anoter factor was the dust bull, which caused farmers to also loose money and turn fresh land into deserts. The only event that turned around the stock market was WWII.
The Start
The great depression started on October 29, 1929, known as Black Tuesday. This was caused when the US stocks fell fast caused by overspending of companies. As the stocks fell, banks became bankrupt, loosing peoples money, which caused people to be poor.
The Dust Bowl

The Dust Bowl caused sandstorms to bury homes and vehicles in dirt and sand.
Sandstorm
Strong winds and dry land caused giant sandstorms to ravage small towns and destroy crops.
Aftermath
Farmland was turned into deserted, hot, sandy dust. Many farmers lost money and homes because of this.
WWII and the turn around
When Pearl Harbor was bombed on December 7th, 1941, the US entered WWII. Because of this, there were large demands for weapons and Vehicles. As a result, there were more industries built and the government started making more money.
The End
In the end, it was WWII that brought the economy back up. Since there was a large demand for soldiers and supplies, Men joined the Army and Women helped at Factories, letting people have more jobs, ending the Great Depression.
