Message from the Principal
What strategies do we use to teach phonics and reading?
Dear Families,
We are eager to share some important updates regarding our phonics program, which plays a crucial role in developing your child's reading and language skills. At STC Elementary, your child receives a strong phonics instruction using a systematic approach through the Orton Gillingham program in grades K-2. Phonics instruction is a fundamental part of early literacy, and we take pride in our approach to teaching this vital skill. Our phonics program has structured multi-sensory lessons, engaging activities, and individualized and small group support.
In grades 3-4, we are concentrating on increasing comprehension in informational texts through a variety of methodologies.
We invite you to participate in your child's success in phonics and reading instruction. If you have any questions about your child's progress, please contact me or discuss his/her progress at the upcoming parent/teacher conferences scheduled for October 12th and 26th from 3:30-6:00.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education. Together, we can help our students become proficient readers and confident learners.
Yours in Education,
Mrs. Amber Galloway

Our kindergarten students attended a special bus safety presentation by Mr. Chris, Mr. Bill, and Mr. Sam. We even had fun singing "The Wheels on the Bus" song as part of the program and students received a special "SAFE DAYS" coloring book.
Congratulations to Harper Sickles and Sutton Kidd
In collaboration with Cumberland Trail Fire Department and St. Clairsville Public Library, Harper and Sutton arrived via firetruck to school last week. These two participated in the summer reading program and were rewarded for reading in a big way. Keep on reading, Harper and Sutton! We are proud of you.
