Principals Message:
I hope you all kept warm and safe through all the inclement weather. It was quite a week! It was outstanding to hear all the stories shared with me about CHS students helping one another or members of our Centennial Community over this last week. Thank you for making that positive difference in our Eagle nation.
Also a special thank you to the valiant efforts of our custodial, technology, and maintenance staff. We have had staff on duty every day, able to address any problems that have come up at CHS. From shoveling snow/ice, placing ice melt, supporting Google classrooms, to repairing pipes, these CSD departments have gone beyond the call of duty o ensure CHS is ready for your safe return to school.
Speaking of overcoming adversity, Congratulations to our Wrestling and Stat Crew, who overcame many issues to finish in 7th place in the premier Oregon Classic competition last week! This was our best finish in the Oregon Classic in over eight years. Thank you to all the coaches, chaperones, Bend High School, all our CHS Wrestlers/Stat Crew members, and Coach Schneider for showing what it means to be an Eagle on our Wrestling Team. Way to go, Eagles!
Remember, "Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle" at CHS!

Message from CHS Counselors
A survey of CHS students this fall told us that most students are looking for more information about college and career exploration and how to pay for college. We want to make sure that you know that this information is available through the CHS College and Career Center (in person from Mr. Henderson) as well as electronically through the CHS College and Career Center Newsletter. Here is the most recent version January College and Career Center Newsletter. This information is updated throughout the year and we suggest that students and parents of all grades review the information throughout the school year.
Teens and Internet Addiction
How do you know if a teenager is addicted to social media? Check out this article from Child Mind Institute, Resources to Help Our Kids Thrive for more information to help support your teen set healthy limits to their online use.

CHS Booster Club meeting on January 23rd from 7-8 PM at CHS. CHS Booster Club needs volunteers. The CHS Booster Club supports our CHS student Athletes, which is an excellent way for parents and families to get involved in CHS. If you are interested in getting involved, please come to the next CHS Booster Club meeting on Tuesday, January 23rd, from 7-8 PM in the Community room. All CHS parents, students, and families are welcome.
Reminders:
Inclement Weather Plan and Communication Methods. Now that we are in winter and the weather is colder, it’s a good time to revisit our plans to address inclement weather and communication methods. Centennial School District has a plan to monitor inclement weather and its potential impacts on school operations that may result in a school closure, a delayed start to the school day, or early dismissal. We notify our staff and families using multiple methods:
Automated messaging (voice, email, and text)
Centennial School District website: www.csd28j.org
Centennial School District Facebook @CentennialSD28j
District voicemail: 503-760-7990
Flash Alert notifies local news stations. Individuals can subscribe to receive FlashAlert updates for Centennial School District here: http://www.flashalert.net/id/centennialsd
ParentSquare will become Centennial's Official District Communication Jan. 2024. Centennial School District is excited to fully implement ParentSquare - our official centralized District communication platform. The District Remind messaging application will sunset Friday, Dec. 15, 2023 and we encourage all our families to register and connect with us via ParentSquare.
ParentSquare will serve as our District messaging platform, which offers an array of digital communication tools, including email, text, phone messaging, forms and much more. Almost all Centennial families have already registered to ParentSquare – placing us at a 96% contactable rate of our families.
Using this platform streamlines District messaging to a single source for our community. Ensuring reliable communication channels is important for our community, and we want our families to know they can count on us to provide them with the tools needed to stay connected with content that relates to them and is easy to use.
Check out the ParentSquare video tutorial below. We also encourage families to update their contact information in Synergy to ensure you have your name, phone number, address, emails and home language updated.
