Grade Level News
Kindergarten
First Grade
First grade is looking forward to the Orlando Science Center coming to Deltona Lakes on Wednesday, December 14. Our first field trip to the Pioneer Arts Settlement will be on Thursday, December 15. Signed permission slip and $11 is due no later than Friday, December 9. We are looking forward to extending our study of Holidays Around the World. On Friday, December 16, parents are invited to come to their child’s classroom to learn about the technology being used from 12:45 to 1:45. Students will participate in a 100 piece puzzle exchange in their class. See the flyer sent home on Monday, December 5. Happy Holidays!
Second Grade
Second grade has been reading and learning about Native Americans. The students made Native American homes as a class project and gave presentations. The students displayed creativity. An amazing job was done by all! In math we continue to work on two and three digit addition and subtraction strategies up to 1000. We will also be working on determining an unknown number in an equation, as well as, solving addition and subtraction one and two step word problems. In science we will be investigating properties of matter. We held our first math bee this past month and our winner was Evan Grove. Our runner up was Kamaurian Ford. Congratulations to all class participants.
Mrs. Phillip's Second Graders
Mrs. Phillips’ students celebrated Veterans Day with student created posters honoring those who served. Students chose to honor family members, friends, etc. by sharing stories about the Veterans’ time served, courage and bravery. Stanley Hillery’s dad came in to our classroom as a Veteran guest. The students did a great job! Thank you to all who have served.
Third Grade
Third grade will be hosting Movie Night on Friday December 9th from 5:30-7:30. Hot dogs and chips will be sold.
Third grade had a great time on their field trip to Lyonia Preserve!
Technology Day
On December 16th DLE will host a Technology Day. Parents are invited to visit your child’s classroom to see how technology is integrated into our curriculum. The children will show you the different ways they use technology and share the different things they have created with technology. The times are as follows:
2nd grade - 9:30 A.M. - 10:10 A.M.
4th grade - 11:15 A.M. - 12:15 P.M.
1st & 5th grades - 12:45 P.M. - 1:45 P.M.
Kg & 3rd grade - 1:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M.
Super Star Student
Jadiel Cruz is a 1st grade student at Deltona Lakes Elementary School. He received a Super Star certificate for maintaining an above average grade in all his academics, being a positive participator in all the classroom discussions and for being responsible. Jadiel exhibits responsibility by always turning in his homework on time as well as finishing his work in class in a timely manner.
Jadiel is also a great friend, demonstrates kindness towards others and is a leader and role model to his classmates. He is a wonderful helper and encourages others to always do their best. Jadiel is a perfect example of demonstrating life skills in a positive way.
Way to go Jadiel!

Parents don't forget... students must wear their uniforms Monday – Thursday but Fridays are uniform free.

A BIG Thank you
A BIG Thank you to Ms. Barbara Howard for providing reflectors for each of our DLE students. Her donation is helping to keep our kids safe so cars are able to see the reflectors and avoiding kids getting hurt is greatly appreciated.
FREE THEATER FIELD TRIPS!
The Daytona Beach Symphony and Youth Experiencing Symphony are organizing FREE trips to the Peabody Auditorium for DLE students. Tickets, bus transportation, and snacks are all FREE! The only thing they ask is for a thank you note in return. The bus will leave about 5pm, and return about 10 pm.

Skate Night
Come to Skate Night. Wear your holiday shirts and hats! The price is $5 and free to adult spectators. All proceeds go towards the fifth grade luncheon.
The class with the highest attendance will receive a donut party on December 20th!
All students must be accompanied by an adult - NO drop-offs!

Jardín de infancia
Primer grado
El primer grado está esperando que el Centro de Ciencias de Orlando llegue a Deltona Lakes el miércoles 14 de diciembre. Segundo grado
El segundo grado ha estado leyendo y aprendiendo acerca de los nativos americanos. Los estudiantes hicieron hogares nativos americanos como un proyecto de clase y dieron presentaciones. Los estudiantes mostraron creatividad. ¡Un trabajo asombroso fue hecho por todos! En matemáticas seguimos trabajando en estrategias de suma y resta de dos y tres dígitos hasta 1000. También estaremos trabajando en determinar un número desconocido en una ecuación, así como en resolver problemas de palabras de una y dos etapas. En la ciencia investigaremos las propiedades de la materia. Celebramos nuestra primera abeja de matemáticas el mes pasado y nuestro ganador fue Evan Grove. Nuestro subcampeón fue Kamaurian Ford. Felicitaciones a todos los participantes de la clase.

Envoltura de Ensalada de Pavo Chop't
Rendimiento: 128 porciones | Contribución: 3/8 taza de verduras | 1/8 taza de fruta
• 4 litros de lechuga romaine, lavada
• 4 libras de zanahorias, lavadas
• Manzanas de 6 libras, lavadas
• 4 espinacas qts, lavadas
• Queso de mostaza de 2 qts

• 128 envolturas de trigo integral de 6 pulgadas
• 16 libras de deli turkey bajo en sodio
• 4 libras de queso cheddar rallado
1. Picar la lechuga romana, pelar y
Triturar las zanahorias y el núcleo y picar
Las manzanas en trozos pequeños.
2. Combinar el romaine, la espinaca, las manzanas
Y las zanahorias en un tazón grande y mezclar
Juntos, tirando con el aderezo de mostaza de miel.
3. Coloque las envolturas de trigo integral para ensamblar y agregar 2 onzas de pavo rebanado,
