Dr. Rumbaugh's Friday Family Message
Hello Families,
We wish to convey our profound sadness at the senseless death of Officer Dan Rocha of the Everett Police Department on Friday, March 25. Officer Rocha was a husband and father of two children in our district, his immediate family includes district employees, and we join with our community in grieving for them. No words here can relieve their pain, but we want them to know that we are here to support them during this time.
Our Stanwood-Camano community includes many first responders like Officer Rocha, and they are true heroes. Our counselors are available to support any students, staff, and families needing help dealing with this unimaginable loss.
The memorial service for Officer Rocha will be held on Monday, April 4 at 1 p.m. at Angel of the Winds Arena (2000 Hewitt Ave, Everett WA 98201). The service will be open to the public. Please see the Everett Police Department memorial page for Officer Rocha for complete information.
New Principals at Cedarhome Elementary and Elger Bay Elementary
We are proud to announce our new principals at CES and EBE starting with the 2022-2023 school year. Kimberly Caldwell has been selected as the new principal of Cedarhome Elementary, and Tim Dickinson has been selected as the new principal of Elger Bay Elementary.
Caldwell is currently the principal of Lakewood Elementary in the Lakewood School District, where she has served since 2018. We appreciate Kimberly’s positive attitude, her leadership skills, and experience building relationships with students, families, and staff.
Dickinson is currently principal and director of teaching and learning at Conway School in the Conway School District, where he has served since 2018. Tim is a strong, inclusive instructional leader and effective communicator in his current school and has built a positive culture there with both families and staff.
The process for selecting a new principal for both schools included surveys of families and staff on the characteristics and traits sought in a new building leader. Staff and families were included on the interview team and finalists were presented at a community meeting.

Last Day of School is now June 20, 2022
The school calendar has been updated to reflect that the last day of school is now June 20, 2022. This reflects the three make-up days due to inclement weather this past fall and winter. The last day of school will be an early release at 9:40 a.m. for grades 6-12 and 11:00 a.m. for grades K-5.
Have a wonderful spring break!
