STEM Updates

February 2022

A Message from the Superintendent

STEM Family,

As you all know we are still feeling the effects of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Our COVID numbers significantly increased in the month of January. We implemented a Remote Conferencing teacher, Mrs. Narvaez, to help students who are out due to COVID stay up-to-date on their academics. We believe this service is beneficial to our students and has enabled students to continue learning while quarantining. If you have any questions regarding Remote Conferencing please contact the front office.

I would also like to thank our nurse, Phylis Solomom, for her continued dedication to our community as she worked tirelessly to keep our school and students healthy. The past two years has been unlike any we have ever seen in education, her guidance has had a great impact on our learning environment.

We look forward to February in hopes of a healthy community. We are eager to provide high-quality face-to-face instruction each and every day for all of our students.

Elementary Updates

Dear Parents,

As the semester gets in full swing, I want to remind you to send your child to school each day with a fully charged device and working headphones. Being a one to one district, our students use their device every day and our students do not always have access to a power outlet.

Additionally, many of our grade levels have implemented an after school detention for students who are not completing their classwork or homework assignments. I believe we can all agree that if students are not engaging in school and completing assignments, learning is stunted. Please check your child’s learning platform daily and ensure that assignments are being completed.

We invite you to join is this month for Love, Peace, & STEM (Feb. 4), Star Gazing (Feb. 7), and Family Literacy Night ( Feb. 24) for a fun filled family night. See the flyers in this newsletter for more information.

Best Regards,

Monica Elizondo, M.Ed.

Secondary Updates

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Dear Parents/Guardians,

This time of year is so exciting to be an educator, and also sad for many reasons. Our March to Graduation has begun. This means some very excited 17 and 18 year olds. Some of them are worried about what is next, and some sad educators that are joining parents that are not yet ready to let go. Needless to say a bag of mixed emotions all around, but very excited.

Our MS students and HS lowerclassmen have a very important benchmarking this week. These benchmarks are incredibly significant for our students. The scores help our teachers design individual assistance for our students on state testing. Please help us make sure your students are prepared for their benchmarks to do their best.

February also means academic planning for the 2022-2023 school year. Your child in grades 8-11 will be coming home with important information that needs to be completed. Please help us make sure those items are turned in by the required due dates.

Thank you so much for allowing us to be partners with you in this journey of your young learner(s). We look forward to the remainder of the year and demonstrating all their hard work. Please never hesitate to reach out with any questions.

In Service to others,

Mr. Cody Griffin
