Greetings Bishop Woods Families,
We have made it to the final week of the 2020-2021 school year! This year was like no other, and I couldn't be prouder of how our students, staff, and families worked TOGETHER to ensure teaching and learning continued for our students. I am excited for all of the hope and possibilities that next school year will bring, but want to ensure we continue to work together as a home-school TEAM!
This week we will have full days of school on Monday and Tuesday, a remote day on Wednesday, and an early dismissal at 12:40pm on Thursday, the last day of school! Your child we receive his/her final report card to bring home (we will mail a copy home as well). Please be sure that your child continues to read and practice his/her math facts this summer! Here are the links to the New Haven Free Public Library's Summer Reading Incentives. I encourage each family to participate! We are also in the process of organizing summer resources for families...I will share this information by the end of the month!

The devices of all in person students have been collected. The schedule for remote students to drop off their devices to school is below. Please note that devices MUST be returned prior to summer break. Do not forget to return chargers as well!
Remote student device & charger return schedule:
Monday, June 14, 1:00-2:30 pm
Tuesday, June 15, 9:00-11:00 am
Tuesday, June 15, 11:15-12:15 pm (8th grade only)
Wednesday, June 16, 5:00-7:00 pm
Your child's final report cards will not be issued until his/her device has been returned. All students will receive their existing device, or a new, upgraded device, upon the return to the 2021-2022 school year.
If you are moving or planning to withdraw your child from New Haven Public Schools, please be sure to contact our main office this week for withdrawal paperwork and protocols. It is important that you complete this process so that we can send all records to your child's new school.
All students entering the 7th grade will need a current physical with updated vaccinations in order to return to school. Please be sure to schedule a physical for your child over the summer. This is extremely important, or he/she will not be able to start the school year in August. Please be sure to drop off a copy of all paperwork to the school, or have it faxed to our main office at 203-946-8362.
On Wednesday, June 16th, we will have our promotion ceremony for our 8th grade students that are moving on to high school! All tickets will be sent home next week, and seating will be assigned based on the number your child selects in the seating raffle. All 8th graders should arrive at Bishop Woods between 9:30 - 9:45am on Wednesday. Promotion rehearsal will take place on Monday and Tuesday from 9-11am, and ALL 8th graders should be in attendance.

This week we celebrated our 5P award winners for the school year!! I am so proud of these students, who each received an award certificate, frisbee and gift card for a value meal or Happy Meal at McDonald's! They will also have extra recess on Monday!! Please see their names highlighted below.
Lastly, I will be in touch with monthly newsletters and updates in July and August. I will be sure our summer birthdays are recognized in these editions! Please be sure to check your email regularly. All students will return for the 2021-2022 school year on Monday, August 30th!
