As it was last month, continue to check your child(ren) for the following symptoms:

  • New shortness of breath
  • New loss of taste and smell
  • New cough
  • Temperature above 100.4

If any of these "Big Four" symptoms are present, please keep your child home and call the school to let us know. The Health Department recommends you then call and/or visit your primary care provider.

With regard to activities please stay informed with what restrictions and requirements are for events that you attend. Each school has different circumstances that they have to accommodate. I along with our staff will do our best to keep all informed of what is going on so please ask questions if you are unsure. For all home activities we will be giving two tickets per participant to attend. That ticket is meant for Parents/Guardians. These stipulations will be for all activities including music concerts, etc. If there are changes we will push that information out to you. As for Bowling, at this time we will not be allowing spectators in as there is not enough capacity to accommodate everyone. With that we are going to attempt to stream as many events as possible though YouTube and Facebook live. Thank you for your cooperation with this so far and as we move forward.

Christmas Program

Our High School Christmas Program will be December 7th starting at 7pm. We will be hosing this in the Pirate gym. As of now we are only allowing 2 people per student to attend. As we asses this we may be able to allow more if the numbers work out. If that is the case we will let you know. We will also be live streaming the concert on our YouTube Channel.

Just a reminder that you are able to keep up to date on your child(s) grades and attendance records through our PowerSchool system. If you to our school website, click on PowerSchool, then log in you will have all the information at your fingertips. Here is the link as well. If you do not have log in information, contact the High School office and Mrs. Haase will get you set up!

Continued Expectations

Just a reminder that when students are not at school, no matter what the reason is, they are still expected to get their work done from when they are gone. It is not the teachers responsibility to chase students around from when they are gone to give them their homework, so please help to remind students to get their assignments when they are gone and turn their work in. Google classroom is utilized by our staff so please have your students check that if they are gone to see what they have to do as well. I would also like to add that students that are in quarantine are expected to participate in class virtually so please make sure that they are doing this.

School cancellations, late starts, and/or early releases will be announced via the phone messaging system and also on the following radio stations: KNEN, Norfolk, KEXL/WJAG-Norfolk and WNAX-Yankton. If no report is heard, it can be assumed that school will be in session. Now is a great time to make sure that the school has accurate and up-to-date phone numbers for you. Please call Mrs. Haase to check your contact information if your number has recently changed.

While it is never an ideal situation, there are times that school may need to be released early due to an impending storm. Please take some time to develop a plan for your children to follow if school is ever released early for inclimate weather.
