Mrs. Gorman’s Weekly News
Week of November 20, 2017
What Are we Learning This Week?
Math
This week, we are completing our Mid Module Assessment. The students have been learning different strategies to multiply up tp 4-digit by 1-digit numbers. They have learned about using the area model, partial products, and the standard algorithm. After Thanksgiving break, we will move into division.
The students will receive a regular homework sheet to complete over Thanksgiving break and it will be due when we return to school on Monday.
Science
In science, we are beginning to learn about Energy. We will begin with learning about a few basic forms of energy, such as sound, light, heat, and electrical energy. We will also discuss the difference between potential and kinetic energy.
Over Thanksgiving break, please ensure that scholars are completing their PENDA lessons and working on their science projects. The due date for science fair projects has been extended to December 20. If you have any questions over the break, please contact me via e-mail.
Classroom Needs
We are in desperate need of pencils, erasers, and dry erase markers! If you are able to donate some to the classroom so that our scholars have all of the materials needed, we would greatly appreciate it!
