Our class news for the week of Dec. 17th-20th
Tidbits From the Teacher
Hello to our last week of school for 2012!
We are going to be busy and having a lot of fun along the way. I have tried to gather all of the serious data for report cards so we can use our last school week of 2012 to do some fun and interesting things.
The class was super excited this week when I brought in another tape dispenser, new dry erase markers, and lots of colored pens for writing. Thank you again to Hailey and family for helping us out. I've got $3 left on the Target card and I'm waiting to see what we need next!
I saw some of you at Chilling in Candy Land last weekend. If you missed it, you missed a TON of FUN! I was a face painter and didn't know I had such mad skills.
Things to Return:
-Homework on Monday
-Friend Card for Party!!! (don't staple this to HW)
PAJAMA PARTY ON THURSDAY!!!
Dates to Remember
Dec. 17th- Mrs. Caldwell's birthday!! Woo Hoo! She'll be 22!
Dec. 20th- Winter Holiday Pajama Party @ 9:15-10:30 AND last day of school for 2012!
Dec. 21-Jan. 6th- Student Holiday

What We'll Be Learning...
Social Studies- We are going to be talking about the variety of celebrations that people in our school community celebrate around this time of the year. We'll be talking about Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Chinese New Year, Christmas, and Diwali (again!). If you have something special that would make one of these celebrations really spectacular, please email me with your idea. I've had friends bring in pictures, posters, clothing, and foods. We'll just have to coordinate the fun!
Writing- The class LOVES free writing time. I can't tell you enough how happy it makes me to hear the scratch of pencils during this time.
Reading- We will be using this time to work on social studies activities and work across the curriculum. We'll tie in main idea and sequencing when appropriate.
Spelling/Handwriting- Students have daily spelling work and they are getting so fast at working on each activity! Handwriting is coming along nicely and I like that planners and other areas involving writing are showing penmanship improvements as well.
