Participate in the Sora into Summer Reading Program for 2024
Tricks:
- During the summer, you can always use free NISD Wifi at any campus parking lot anytime of day to download. Free Wifi is also available at any San Antonio Public Library parking lot or indoors.
- You can access soraapp.com without signing into the NISD portal, simply by typing soraapp.com and using your NISD username (with the letter), or go to your app store and search for Sora, by Overdrive.
Reading Program Challenge
1. Borrow and Read a "Sora Sweet Reads: Always Available eBooks and Audio Books"
By borrowing and completing a Sora Sweet read ebook or audio book, you will earn the 2024 Sweet Reads badge. This badge will be used to verify that you've completed reading at least one Sweet Read book. You'll find this badge when you click on the "me" button.
2. Set your "Reading Stats" to May 13, 2024 to August 26, 2024
Setting your "Reading Stats" Custom Date Range
- Read at least 5 books. (This accomplishment will be accounted for in the "Total books opened" stat.) You may read any five books from the Sora collection. They do not all need to be Sweet Reads.
- Officially "finish" your books when you are done (under options on your shelf) so you can earn more badges in your Sora app. See instructions below.
How to "Finish" a book.
- Close the book, at the top right hand corner of the ebook.
- Click on the shelf button
- Click on Options
- Mark as done
- Mark as done (yes, you'll need to click two different "Mark as done" buttons)
- Then you may return the book
Close the book when you are finished reading.
Go to your shelf.

3. Enter the Sora into Summer Drawing to Win
- Earning the Sweet Reads Badge for 2024
- Reading 5 books between May 13 and August 26, 2024
are eligible to win a Samsung Galaxy Tablet. One tablet will be awarded to an elementary student, and one tablet will be awarded to a secondary student.

Enjoy Summer Reading with Sora
At home, at the beach, any place you go this summer, read eBooks and listen to audio books all summer long. If you do, you will qualify to be in a drawing to win a Samsung Galaxy tablet.
There are two tablets available to win! One will be awarded to an elementary student, the other a secondary student. But, as always, everyone wins with full access to free reading any day of the week, any time of day!
Qualify to Win
Multiply Available Books: Add the San Antonio Public Library
If you already use Sora, you can add the San Antonio Public Library. Here are the steps:
- In Sora, open the menu (in the top-right corner).
- Select Add library.
- Search for San Antonio Public Library and select "this is my library" from the results
When you search for books, go back to the drop down menu under Explore on the left hand side of the page and select Northside ISD. You will automatically search both NISD and SAPL resources.
The first time you check out a book from SAPL, when you click on the borrow button, you will be asked to sign into your library.
- Click on the drop down menu where it says, "Select your library"
- Drop down and select Northside ISD
- enter your username (S# or E#)
- click on the "Sign in" button
You will not need to repeat these steps the next time you check out a book from the San Antonio Public Library after you have done this once.

Middle School and High School Students
If you already use Sora, you’ll need to add the SYNC program’s library. Here are the steps:
- In Sora, open the menu (in the top-right corner).
- Select Add library.
- Search for audiobooksync and select the library from the results.
- Enter the email address you used to sign up for SYNC.

- You can use Northside ISD as your school.
- Use the "johnpaulstevens" setup code if you cannot find any Northside school or District
- Get in and play with it! Hands on is the best learning experience!
- Consider using Sora as your reading program! It automatically keeps track of student reading time, number of books, and gives badges for student achievements!
- Be careful that students are using the preview feature to determine if they want the book, before they check it out. Check outs will use up metered access and make the book "go away" when our access is used up.
