A message from the principal
Greetings Wilson Families,
Wow, we are already into May and it looks like the weather might actually start to feel like spring soon. We have many fun events coming up during the last month of school. There are many field trips that different grade levels are attending. There are also some whole school activities:
May 11 - Celebration of Learning (5:30-7:00p)
May 19 - All-School Track & Field Day (more info to come)
We are finishing up our 5th grade MCA testing on Thursday and Friday of this week. I am proud of our Whirlwinds for their hard work on the reading and math MCA testing we did the last couple of weeks. As we enter the summer months, think about how to still have fun doing reading and math games/activities. The public library is a great place to visit weekly and enjoy some great new books. Math games like Yahtzee, Monopoly, dice, cards or different math BINGO games (fractions, decimals, percent, etc.) are all great ways to have fun while using math skills.
Also, don't forget to order yearbooks for your students (grades K-4) below. Our fifth graders will receive a yearbook provided to them by our PTCO.
Don't forget that our last day at the elementary level is Wednesday, June 7. We look forward to having a great last month of school.
Sincerely,
Chris Forrest
Don't forget to order yearbooks! Orders and payments due by May 15.
May 11th - Celebration of Learning Night
Culture Share Opportunity
WHAT: Students are invited to participate in our Celebration of Learning Night by sharing about their culture with others. We will have tables in the hallway for students to set up displays that include information and items that relate to their culture or a country they are connected to.
WHEN: A gallery walk where families walk around and explore will take place from 5:30-6:30pm. Set up will be from 5:15-5:30.
Students will need to be accompanied by an adult that will stay at the display during the gallery walk. Students will get an interest form that can be filled out if they would like to participate.
We are so excited to learn from each other!
Music Share
WHAT: Recordings of class performances will be playing in the music room and a 3rd grade classroom. This will be a time where families can see some of what their students have been learning in music class.
WHEN: The videos will be playing from 5:30 - 6:30.
Art Share
WHAT: Students and families can create a positive message or symbol on a rock to add to Wilson’s rock garden. This will take place in the art room.
WHEN: Art will be created from 5:30-6:30.
