An update from the principal
An email update from Mounds View High School
October 4, 2021
Dear Mounds View High School community,
Recent rumors and misinformation have contributed to our community feeling unsafe about Mounds View High School. In response, I want to provide you with an update regarding the threat that was made against our school community online over the weekend.
As I shared yesterday, Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department identified the student responsible and took the student into custody. After thoroughly investigating, law enforcement determined the threat to not be considered credible. However, the student is no longer attending Mounds View High School. This incident was related only to Mounds View High School. Had there been any threats that affected any of our other schools, those school communities would have been notified as well.
We appreciate that students continue to share with us information that seems unusual or potentially threatening, and we understand their heightened sense of anxiety. We are also sharing this information with Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department. Please know that to date, there have been no additional images, tips or school incidents shared with us that are considered credible threats by law enforcement, nor are they related to yesterday’s threat. If this changes, we will communicate with you and our school community.
As always, parents have the right to decide if they will send their student to school, but please know that our school is providing a safe environment for our students today. Although we are confident that this threat has been addressed, there will be an increased presence of law enforcement at school in the coming days out of an abundance of caution.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Bruggers
