Remember - Monday, September 6th is a Staff/Student Holiday!

Notes from the Principal

And…We’re Off and Running!!!

Boone Bears Rock!

What a great start we have had to this school year! Despite all of the challenges and obstacles, we have faced in just these first three weeks of the school year, the Boone halls are once again bustling and are filled with the sounds of fun and learning. I would like to send a huge shout out to the entire Boone Family! We can only do this together and I so appreciate the work everyone has put in to get us off to such a great start!

I am excited about all of the learning that lies before us this fall. Boone is a very special place. It is the family environment and the atmosphere of cooperation that we show toward each other that is such an important model for our children. Please remember, we are all teachers. It’s just that some of our classrooms are in a school building and some are in our homes.

What to Do if Your Child is Not Feeling Well

If your child is ill with symptoms consistent (cough, sore throat, stomach issues, headaches, fatigue, congestion, etc ...) with Covid-19 contact Ester Tristan at and your child's teacher and then the following protocols must be followed:

Students May Return After 10 days have passed since symptoms started, and improvement in overall symptoms, and 24 hours have passed without fever and use of fever-reducing medication.

Provide doctor’s note to campus health room staff stating that symptoms are not COVID-19-related and student can return to school.

Provide a negative COVID-19 test. This MUST be a PCR test not a rapid antigen test and not a home test.

Please see the COVID 19 Guidelines below for more information.

There are a number of programs and services that they provide throughout the school year. Attached is a flyer of upcoming programs that they are offering this Fall.

Crawford's Connections

Welcome to September! It has been such a joy to have almost everyone back on campus again! It has been a fast, exciting, and fun beginning of the year.

Dismissal: Thank you for everyone’s patience as we have tweaked dismissal to ensure a safe speedy release of students. Just a few reminders:

1) Please do not stand in the grassy areas where classes are standing. We are trying to keep that area clear for students to have an easy route to their designated spots. Students who are in Kinder, 1st & 2nd grades will be located here. The students are doing a great job getting to their spots and then waiting for their teachers to release them. This is keeping students safe and teachers informed when they are leaving.

2) If you need a student who is in 3rd-5th grades, please text the following number. 512-856-1401 When you text give us your child’s first and last name & teacher’s name. If you are picking up multiple students in these grade levels, please list all students/teachers in one text. It helps our office staff if you will start a new text thread each day.

Dismissal has improved greatly since that trying first day! We could not do it without our fantastic dismissal team as well as all of the cooperation from our school family! Thank you!

Safety Drills: Being back on campus this year we will be conducting all drills we have done in previous years before the pandemic. We conducted our first fire drill last week, and all the students did a fantastic job! Our only hiccup was the alarm not turning off due to a new procedure that we were not quite privy to before the drill. Students and teachers just got a little extra fresh air Friday. We just roll with the punches and everything quieted back down in about 15 minutes.

We do live in a time that one of the drills we have to practice twice a year is a Lockdown drill. I am required to inform our school community when we will conduct this type of drill. We will have this practice drill on Friday, September 17th at 8:30. Students are trained to move away from sight and to maintain silence throughout the drill. Teachers will ensure all students are accounted for and safely in the classroom. The door is locked and will never be opened to anyone who is on the outside of the door. The drill will last a few minutes and then teacher and students will get back to their learning for the day. Before we conduct the drill, teachers will talk with students to understand this is only a drill. We will do everything we can to ensure we do not cause any child to be afraid or cause alarm.

If you have any questions about this type of drill or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out. I am happy to answer any questions that you might have.

Boone Cafe News: Now for Boone Café News….lunch is always an extremely busy time during the school day. Our teachers have done an amazing job working on clear expectations for Café behavior as well as procedures that help this time run smoothly. We are still looking for monitors in our Café. The hours we need are 10:40-12:40. The search for two people

has not been successful so we are going to get creative if we have enough people that are interested.

Are you able to commit to one or two days a week as a paid lunch monitor? We are able to have two paid lunch monitors per day for 2 hours each. We are going to try to find enough people that could at least work one or two days a week on a consistent basis and hopefully fill all of the days of the week!

If you are interested, please contact me via email or by a phone call. Email is or 512-414-5310.

As always, my door is always open if you ever need anything! Together we can do wonderful things. Thank you for trusting us to take good care of your Boone Bears…it is an honor!
