Principal's Den
Congratulations on getting through our first trimester! I understand that some of us are still adapting to distance learning, but I am very proud of how far we have come as a school community. We are all working together to give our students the best education possible considering our unique circumstances. Please make sure to contact your teacher or our office if we can be of any assistance. Attendance is very important to your child's success and we thank you for supporting them in being ready to login everyday.
We will not be scheduling parent conferences with all students this year. If you have concerns about your student's progress, please reach out to your child's teacher. We are working to provide opportunities for our students to be able to socialize with their friends. We have added a virtual recess everyday after 12pm. Please check with your teacher for your designated time. You can login to the virtual recess through Ms. Dahlman's zoom classroom in Clever. We have also started a very fun Sports for Learning lesson each week for all of our students. This is a live lesson with a coach that will cover exercise and well-being. You can access these special live lessons through the Sports for Learning link in Clever at your designated times after 2pm.
This week is a short instructional week starting on Monday with Día de los Muertos. This is a traditional Mexican holiday to remember our loved ones that have passed. We do not have classes on Thursday and Friday. I hope you enjoy this time with your families.
Shoutout to Allison Guardado, a fourth grade student in Ms. Gallegos's class for being selected as our Shining Brighter student of the week for the week of October 19th. Our students are outstanding and there were many that were nominated by their teachers for this special recognition and I will continue to recognize them during our morning announcements.
I also want to give a shoutout to Ms. Richards for being selected as one of our district's STAR teachers of the week. We are very proud of her and her dedication to all of our students.
I want you to know that our school is hard at work to prepare our classrooms and campus for a possible return to school. We are following state, county, and district guidelines to make sure our school is ready and safe for both students and staff.
This week we will be distributing a special art kit to all of our students during Grab n Go lunch. We will also have the practice book packets available during that time.
Thank you,
At Cloverdale we strive to be Leaders by Example. As I mention to our students during announcements, this means that we always try to do the right thing even when no one is looking.
As part of our school's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS), we also learn to ROAR. This is a matrix that exemplifies our core values of being Respectful, Organized, Accountable, and Responsible.
We also know that a FAIL is only a First Attempt in Learning and that we learn best from our mistakes. When someone makes a mistake we say "It's Cool!"
Sincerely,
Genaro García
