In order for the Middle School dance to happen, we need to sell 20 tickets by tomorrow (Tuesday) so please purchase your tickets! (Please see more info under events)
ASB Seeking Donations for Fall Festival
Come join us for an afternoon of community fun at the Fall Festival on Thursday, November 3rd, from 1:00-3:00pm on the blacktop. ASB students will be running a variety of games and booths for children of all ages. Some of your favorite events are back, like pie throwing, cookie decorating, ring toss, and the cake walk. And we’ve added some new events, too! A $5 wristband gets you unlimited play. You’ll have a blast and you might even win some fun prizes. Wristbands can be purchased at the event (cash or check only). Snacks will also be available for purchase (most are $1). Elementary students must be supervised by a parent/guardian. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
ASB is seeking donations of the following items to help with this event:
- Mini-pumpkins
- Plain store bought sugar cookies (for decorating)
- Frosting, sprinkles and other fun cookie toppings
- Store-bought cakes for the cake walk (nothing homemade and no nuts)
- Bottles of water
- Cuties
Donated items can be left in the front office beginning this week. (More perishable items can be dropped off the day before the event.)Thank you!
LCFF
Local Control Funding Formula Data Collection Form (LCFF) will be sent home with your child this week. We need this information to help ensure our District and our school receive all the state funding to which we are entitled. This information will also be used to determine if your student qualifies for reduced AP testing fees.
Please return this form by next week to your supervising teacher.
The LCFF online form is also available on the Parent Portal, and NOT on the student’s portal.
To create a Parent Portal account, you will need:
A valid email address
Access ID and Password from your student's school
If you do not have the Access ID and Password, please contact Mihoko via mikeuchi@sandi.net to make the request. You will need an Access ID and Password for each student you wish to link to your account.
Create your PowerSchool Parent Portal account if you have not already:

SSC and SGT

Events
Elementary and Middle School Dance
Save the date! Elementary and Middle school dances are scheduled for October 27th. Wear your costumes (optional) and join us for the first dance of the year!
The elementary dance will be from 2:00-3:00pm Thursday, October 27th and is free. We'll have light snacks and games. A parent must attend with their student.
The middle school dance is from 3:15 - 4:30pm Thursday, October 27th and tickets are $3.00. We'll have pizza and drinks! This event is open to MEA students only. NO DATE REQUIRED! Just come and have fun with your friends!
Both dances require a permission slip that you can download. Click the links for the Elementary Permission Slip and Middle School Permission Slip.
Middle School Dance tickets can be purchased in the office with a completed permission slip. Cash or check only. Tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, October 26. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD DAY OF. If we do not sell at least 20 tickets by Tuesday, October 26, the dance will be canceled, so tell your friends and don’t delay!

See’s Candy Fundraiser
Our annual ASB See's Candy Fundraiser is starting! Please help support Mt. Everest Academy and the ASB by participating in this MEA tradition.
Order forms are going home with students, please check with your supervising teacher. Additional forms can be picked up in the office or select the link See's Winter Fundraising Items and/or See's Winter Order Form. Thanks for helping us raise money to support school events like dances, festivals, and clubs!
All orders and money must be returned to MEA by Nov. 29th so that we can fill them in time for Winter Break. Checks should be made out to MEA ASB. Prizes will be awarded to the top three sellers and prize of MEA water bottle for any seller with over $150!

Prior to start volunteering, we need to ask you to:
Complete and return the school volunteer application and Volunteer Code of Conduct to the office or email them to Mihoko at mikeuchi@sandi.net.
Provide California School Employee TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire OR results of Tuberculin skin test. If all your answers are No to the questions listed on the TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire, you can meet with our nurse, Ms. Gormican, in the health office. She will review the California School Employee TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire in person with you. Her available time is between 9 am to 3 pm on Tuesdays.
All forms are also available in the office per your request. Thank you for your support!

Walktober Updates
- Hope you had a fantastic first week of Walktober! Reminder: Log your steps online by the end of the day each Tuesday. You must log your steps by midnight to be eligible for all weekly prizes! Check out this participant packet that contains even more information about the challenge.
- All who are registered by the end of day today will be entered into a raffle for a $25 Amazon gift card! o Encourage others to get moving with you! it’s not too late to start or grow your team. Registration will be open throughout the challenge and newcomers will still be eligible for many of the awards. Be sure to register for the “SDUSD WALKTOBER PHYSICAL ACTIVITY CHALLENGE” Link to register.
- The 2 top steppers (highest total number of steps for the week) in SDUSD will each receive a $25 Amazon gift card!
How to Log Steps:
- Go to www.runsignup.com/Walktober2022 and select "Results" at the top.
- Click on “Submit Virtual Results” at the top of the page.
- Search your name and select “Log Activities.” You may be prompted to log in using your email. Under "Date completed," select the date the activity was completed. Then enter the number of steps completed. Use the step conversion chart to calculate how many "steps" you should log for physical activities you were unable to track.
- After all is filled in, you may select "Submit Activity."
**Enter each day as a separate activity entry.**
Check out the step conversion chart. ALL activities are welcomed to be “counted” for points in this challenge. If you participate in physical activities that don’t lend themselves well to steps, you can track your minutes engaging with the activities and use the conversion chart throughout the challenge to get a “step equivalent” number to report week to week.

PALS Tutoring
All students who would like some extra help can come to the Auditorium every Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30-11:30. All grades are welcome, as WE HAVE TUTORS FOR ALL GRADE LEVELS! PALS is a great way to build community and academic skills!
Parents, K-5 students attending PALS must arrive with a check-in form so tutors know what to work on with your child and you receive a report about the session.

Emma, a junior and a newer addition to the MEA community, and Chloe talk about marvel movies, iambic pentameter, music, writing, summer camps, and anxiety. Elementary Cosmic Yoga
Every Wednesday and Thursday all elementary students are invited to join Ms. Sink at 8:30 in the Auditorium as we wake up our bodies and brains with Cosmic Yoga! Parents are welcome to join.
Students who attend elementary class on those days will be walked to class after yoga. Students without class those days will need to be picked up by 8:55am.
Wear comfortable clothes. Yoga mats will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.
