Staff Virtual Office Hours Week of 4/27 - 5/1
Hi Everyone,
We know that last week's news was very disappointing for everyone. As a staff, we all really miss seeing the students in our building each school day, however we are also committed to staying engaging with all of our students and families, supporting remote learning, and building on the momentum we have gained in the process so far. Through this process, we will continue to stress that it is important that everyone just do the best they can in this imperfect situation.
Over the past weeks, while we have felt natural growing pains in shifting to this remote learning world, we have also experienced many successes in the learning curve. As a community, we try to approach new learning with the idea of having a growth mindset, and with this comes the idea of using the concept of trial and error as a learning opportunity. We hope that each step of this process will allow us to improve or strengthen our work for students.
Across the Dunning Community, although we are not in our brick school building, we are still meeting throughout the school day in our vitural building with each other, as well as with students. Through these meetings, our staff continue to be focused and dedicated to meeting the needs of all of our students. In just this short time, as we have shifted our practice to the remote learning model, there have been many success. We thought it was important to take time to share some successes discussed in our meetings this week.
- “Kids are sharing that they are really liking the kid-friendly virtual plan.”
- “Our team has worked successfully together to create something amazing for our kids to access.”
- “Many kids want to share their work.”
- “I had a great experience during my office hours.”
- “Feedback from kids has been helpful.”
- “Feedback from parents that they liked the family version.”
- “Google Hangouts has been great!”
- “The importance of having a good relationship with families and kids has shown through”
As always, our virtual door is always open.
