Olympic Hills WAG
June 1st, 2023
Happy June and Happy Pride Month!
Thank you all for your flexibility and hard work as testing has been such a huge lift these past weeks. Testing continues next week for grades 1st-5th as we finish our final MAP testing in the lab. Note that PCP lab will be held outside for movement next week unless notified otherwise. See the MAP testing schedule below. Please also submit your data by June 7th; enter data here under the appropriate grade level tab and columns for June 23. We are looking forward to celebrating our student growth together at our spring data team meetings on June 21.
With testing coming to a close, the schedule continues to get busy as we have TONS of fun events and visits to Olympic Hills throughout the month of June. Please review the calendar items below carefully as we have assemblies, enrichment activities, and more! Next Wednesday 6/7, we have a few exciting team meetings happening. Our math and writing vertical teams will have their final meetings of the year. We appreciate the endless amount of time and energy that went into making these teams successful places focused on building community and positively impacting student learning. Your commitment to learning and collaborating is inspiring! On June 7th, the math vertical team will gather feedback from the year and likely meet off campus (look for information from Julia & Katy). The writing vertical team has a special guest, Bryan Wilson, from the Bureau of Fearless Ideas coming to visit. He will take the team through some poetry activities that can be used with students. Any/all educators are welcome to attend regardless of whether or not you've been on the team throughout the year. If you plan on joining, please let Julie know in advance so she can prepare. And finally, please let Rachelle know if any of you want to join us for our Creative Advantage Arts Planning meeting from 3:30-6.
Finally, we want to extend a big thank you to the levy team for presenting to our Department of Education and Early Learning team: Dwane Chappelle, DEEL Director, Chris Alejano, K12/PS Division Director, Ciera Graham, K12 Manager and Theresa D'Agostino, Levy Director . They were very impressed by the work our educators are doing to support students. If you would like to know more about the amazing work that was shared, you can view the presentation here.
This message was shared from one of the the DEEL Director: "We appreciate you sharing your efforts to support your multi-language, Latinx learners, implement your K-1 English language arts/literacy supports, and how you are providing 3-5 grade multi-lingual programming for math and college and career readiness. It was great to hear about how you are establishing your Student Leadership Team as well as how the Latinx Family Council helps to build trusting relationships and partnership between with families. The systems and structures you’ve created around how you use student data has certainly helped to inform your strategies to address the academic needs of students as well as create sustainability in your collective work with youth and families."
