they traveled a lot every day or maybe not
on a good day they could travel 15 miles

on a rainy day or a muddy day they wouldn’t travel far only up to 1 mile or maybe if you were lucky just a little farther
source:http://library.thinkquest.org/6400/lives.htm
but with todays technology we could travel as far as they could get in 6-7 days in one hour with a car

what did pioneers do after they got to the new land
one of the first things they did was buy land a acre was about two dollars but for some people that was expensive
source:http://library.thinkquest.org/6400/lives.htm
another thing they did was after they got there land they had to clear the rocks and tree stumps so they could plant crops and build houses
source:http://library.thinkquest.org/6400/lives.htm
another thing to do was build a well if there wasn't a stream nearby
