Student Celebration Video
We have a new celebration video that you will want to see! During the first half of the school and prior to the winter break, our Jayhawks were busy accomplishing many great things! We know we will finish the school year out strong, as we keep up the good work. Please check out the new video and enjoy!
Incoming Freshman Open House @ OPRFHS
OPRF's Future Huskie Night (8th grade open house) will occur on January 19th. We are very excited to host our incoming freshmen and families during this event. All divisions, departments, athletics and activities will have staff hand to share information and answer questions. And, probably of most concern to our new students, we will have school tours available.
We are excited to meet our incoming huskies!

- 2. Respect the space and those around you.
- 3. No food, drinks, or phones.
Please email Ms. Winchell, Teacher Librarian, jwinchell@op97.org with any questions.
Culture & Climate Corner
- Restock - Can you support our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports) efforts by purchasing items from our Amazon wish list for our next school store?
- Volunteer - If you have 30 minutes available on Jan 18, we could use your help to set up, tear down, or work the store during a lunch period! Check out our sign-up sheet here. Any questions? Please reach out to Katie Trathen at ktrathen@op97.org. Thank you so much!

Communication
In 2020, Principal Christian implemented the theme of "over-communicate" amid the flexibility of the COVID19 virus and how information might change at a moment's notice. Last year, our theme was "growing together". And now in 2022-23, we'd like to continue with our new theme of "Stronger, Together". Here are the ways in which Principal Christian and the Jayhawk staff communicates:
- Our Official Percy Julian Facebook Page (click here)
- Christian's Weekly Communication (every week)
- PowerSchool Daily Bulletin Alerts
- Text Messages (Jayhawk Text Messages District 97 uses the notification system BrightArrow to communicate with families via email and phone calls. This year, we have started using periodic text messages to send reminders directly to parents' cell phones. In order to receive text messages, parents must opt-in by texting YES to 87569. Once you have subscribed, you will receive a text confirmation.)
