We're Glad You Came!
Our Julian Curtiss Open House was so much fun! Mrs. Brush and I enjoyed the opportunity to see so many parents and family members come out to support the students and the school. It is so encouraging to know that so many families made time to meet our specialists and essentialists such as Music, Art, PE, Foreign Language, Library/Media, Literacy, ESL, and Special Education in addition to their child’s homeroom. Thank you for finding time in your busy schedules to attend this event. The support and involvement of families is greatly appreciated by the teachers and staff, and it’s the number one thing parents can do for their children’s education. We are so fortunate to work with such a supportive community!
“Parents, families, educators and communities—there’s no better partnership to assure that all students pre-K- to high school—have the support and resources they need to succeed in school and in life.”

Parents were asked to leave a note about their children to say what makes them awesome. The messages were so heart warming! We think ALL of our JC students are awesome, but seeing the parent perspective allows us to know a little bit more about each child. We believe that those connections are very important to student success, so thank you for sharing! There is a photo below of all of the wonderful things you had to say!
We also want to extend a very special thank you to our PTA for providing our teachers and staff with a lovely dinner before Open House. So many of our teachers travel far and it certainly is a special treat to have dinner served on a late night at school. Not only did the PTA provide dinner but Jessie Bennett, Kirsten Hennigan , Bob Chaney, and Michele Tierney decorated with tablecloths, votives, and beautiful flowers. Merci! Gracias!

Drop-off and Pick-up Reminders
Parents should not exit the car at any time during drop-off. Student using morning drop-off must be independent in leaving the car. If they need assistance with unbuckling or unloading large items, parents should park and walk their child to the front door. Also, please make sure to pull up as far as possible rather than stopping directly in front of the door. This helps to keep traffic moving.
Blacktop Pick-up
Students are not permitted to cross the driveway to meet a parent. Please park your car and come to the blacktop to meet your student. This is to ensure the safety of all students as the driveway is extremely busy.
Front Circle Entry
Cars are not permitted to enter the front circle from 2:15 - 3:15 pm to allow for the safe passage of buses.
Car Pick-up
Please display a sign with either your last name or your child's full name in large letters on the visor or dashboard of your car. This will help keep the line moving quickly. If you need materials for a car sign, they are available in the main office. Also, please remember that the driveway is two-way and passing the pick-up line at any time is not permitted in order to ensure the safety of our students and staff members.
Parking
Parking along the driveway as you come in from the Milbank Avenue roundabout is illegal. Cars are entering and exiting on a very narrow road. The signs say NO PARKING during school hours.
Beginning next week the police will be coming by and ticketing violators. Please do not park in those spaces. There is room in the bottom parking lot behind the school or you can utilize for drop-off and pick-up. Thank you for your cooperation!

Culture Within Us - The Inside Out Project
Our goal is to capture images that reflect the diversity of our Julian Curtiss community. In order to do this, we need permission for the images to be used as part of the project. Below is a link to a release that needs to be signed in order for children to participate. One form needs to be completed for each child. Please click below to print a copy of the form and return to your child's teacher by Friday, September 13th. Forms will also be available at Open House.
We look forward to sharing the unique and wonderful character of Julian Curtiss with the world!
