Whitehall Wonders
February 2018 Edition
January Wonders!!!
So many great things happened in January. Thank you stakeholders for your support in making sure January was awesome for our students! We appreciate your hard work and support!
Mayor Terrance Roberts
Thank you, Mayor Roberts, for speaking with our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students! We are proud of our community and love it when community members come in and spend time with us at WHES!
Chromebook Rollout
Students and teachers were excited to see Chromebooks arrive! EVERY student in first through fifth grade received a Chromebook to use in class each day!
"Build a Better World-Read"
We laughed until our stomachs hurt! Mr. Chad Crews got students excited about the importance of reading and making reading relevant all while bringing in humor and magic!
READ! READ! READ!
Our goal is to increase the number of students scoring Meets and Exceeds in grades 3-5 by 2% each year.

Courageous Behavior Celebration
Students that have helped us "Build a Kind World" with courageous behavior at school and on the bus are going to a reward party on February 9. We cannot wait to celebrate with those that consistently use courageous behavior!
We are stomping out cowardly behaviors so we can "Build a Kind World" at WHES!!!
Listen to what some our courageous students had to say! We showed this video at our school wide January morning meeting.

Encourage your child to help stomp out cowardly behaviors (disrespect and bullying)! We want to "Build a Kind World"by courageously using kind actions and kind words all of the time with everyone. Please help us "Build a Kind World". Everyone deserves for school to be an inviting, fun, and safe place to be!
Muffins for Moms- February 16
Mothers or guardians please join us for a muffin and juice on February 16 at 7:45-8:00 a.m. This will be a brief time for you to enjoy a quick snack with your child and hear some important information. We will send home flyers on February 8. Please RSVP so we can ensure we have enough food. We look forward to seeing you on February 16.
Shout Outs to our #Eduheroes and Students
"To the World You May Be a Teacher, But To Your Students You Are a Hero!"
Reading Detectives
Mrs. Brown turned her students into “Reading Detectives” by giving each child a hand lens and having them find the evidence that supported their thinking when deciding on answers to questions.
iPads in Kindergarten
After attending a PD session with Mrs. Agnello, Ms. Mauldin started using Seesaw with her K5 students. These Kindergarten students responded to texts by using emojis and writing sentences.
Teachers learning and growing together only make us better!
Teachers growing and learning together at WHES to ensure we are "Wholeheartedly Helping Everyone Succeed"! Mrs. Landreth and Mrs. Rollins leading a section on how to use sticky notes to help guide/plan their small group math instruction (Guided Math).
